Of course, that didn't preclude him from thoughts of when he could go sneaking off while the kids trained and finding some proper outlet for his pleasure. He'd have to do that anyway just to keep track of contacts and listen for rumors.
"Okay, you three 'princesses', this is Naruto Uzumaki - who is the one I'm mostly concerned with training," said Jiraiya, sitting on the stump of a tree and gesturing to the blonde kid next to him. "Naruto here has the kekkei genkai of Force - combining three elements. Now, if you'll introduce yourselves?"
A redheaded girl jumped to her feet. "Me! Me first!"
"Okay, fine," said Jiraiya, mentally labelling this one 'the Genki Girl' among the trio.
"I'm Hikaru Shidou! My family is good at Fire-based jutsu, and I'm learning taijutsu and kenjutsu!"
"Okay," said Jiraiya, nodding. "Next."
"Uhm, that would be me I guess," said the girl with the glasses.
"If you like," said Jiraiya, mentally labelling this one the 'Academic' of the three.
"Fuu Huouoji," said the glasses-wearing child. "My family has a strong affinity for Wind element. I excel in archery."
"That leaves me," said the third girl.
"I guess so," said Jiraiya. He was thinking this was the "Tsundere" probably.
"Umi Ryuuzaki," said the third one. "I have Water element, and my style of kenjutsu is that of the Ryuuzaki family!"
"Okay," said Jiraiya, "that tells me very little. I'll have to test your abilities. I hope you prepared for a long trip because this will be six months of severe training in the wilderness."
"We'll still be near restaurants though, right?" asked Umi.
"Wild animals, horrific weather," said Jiraiya.
"It sounds as if we'll be outside," stated Fuu.
"-and worse," stated Jiraiya. "Still up for it?"
Two of the girls looked slightly intimidated. The redhead, on the other hand, nodded.
"Sounds fun!" said Hikaru.
"Hiashi-sama," said the branch family member. "Word from Jiraiya."
"Ah, he's finally ready to negotiate," mused Hiashi Hyuga, holding up a hand so that both daughters would stop their practice.
"No, actually, he sent back that he's unable to attend the meeting with you due to his leaving the village to train Naruto and three other students," said the branch family member.
"What?" asked Hiashi.
"I have the names of the students," continued the branch family member. "The heirs of the Ryuuzaki, Hououji, and Shidou families will be accompanying Jiraiya and the Uzumaki boy."
"I... see," said Hiashi, frowning. An odd noise brought his attention back to where Hinata had been practicing. Hiashi shook his head. "You two, continue to practice your drills. I have to investigate this matter myself."
