Having Tea At the Gate Of Time.
Setsuna Meioh, Sailor Pluto, was not used to having guests at the Gate of Time. Okay, that was a lie. But normally those 'guests' were only interested in murdering her, taking her as a slave, blow up the Gate of Time, or using the Gate of Time to change history.
It had been far, far too long since she had been able to have some good tea and a civilized discussion with a guest at the Gate of Time.
"When you stop and think about it, you and I are very much alike." Said the thin elegant white alicorn sitting across from the dainty white table that separated them. "We both are ladies of culture and taste. We both are bound by a sacred duty. We both know it's much easier to create a close utopian society than it is to -keep it-. And both of us are demonized by the fandom for reasons that ninety percent fanon."
The princess of Pluto regarded the large white 'horse' in full regalia with a polite face and polite manor and a smile, "At least you don't have to worry about people fantasizing about losing your status and special talents from being demoted to a 'dwarf-sun.' And does it really matter what other people think of you whom you'll never meet and whom hold no true sway over your life?"
Princess Celestia of Equestria and incarnation of the day nodded, "Yes. Perhaps. But you really should try visiting some of the websites some times. They tend to be rather amusing."
Setsuna kept her manners, "I'd rather avoid potentially damaging the dimensional fabric with internet browsing. How do you even operate a keyboard anyway?"
"Carefully."
"I see. So what brings the sun goddess of Equestria to the Time Gate? As much as I'm enjoying this social call I very much doubt this is the only reason for your visit."
Celestia made a mock gasp of shock and offense, "Oh! Would I? Princess Celestia, the same monarch who manipulated my greatest student/surrogate daughter to experience true friendship in order to cure my little sister of her mad with jealousy persona; and lured my student/surrogate daughter's friends into shaking up the single most dull and soul-crushingly rigid social event in Canterlot, have an ULTERIOR MOTIVE for something?"
Setsuna struggled not to laugh, "So what are you scheming?"
"Princess Pluto. A goddess does not scheme! She plans, she foresees, she guides, she predicts, she doesn't scheme."
"Yeah. Right. So what is it?"
"If you must absolutely know," Celestia allowed her playful attitude a moment more before speaking in a more proper tone, "Twilight Sparkle and her friends, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Applejack, as I'm sure you know, are bearers of the Elements of Harmony. But many of them hold traits that are contradictory to their elements."
"Darkness can brighten the light, and shading adds depth."
"Indeed. And the fact a unicorn who tried to get her hands on a dragon's horde can bear Generosity, a Earth Pony who can be too proud to admit she needs help can bear Honesty, and a Pegasus who, well, doesn't always act the part can embody Loyalty, speaks volumes of the strength of character that lies beneath the surface for each of them. But that isn't the real problem."
"What is then?"
"They need practice! I have not, can not, and will not, be everywhere at once, and my little sister, as dangerous and destructive as she was Nightmare Moon, was still a child pretending to be an adult."
Sesuna thought of Wicked Lady, "Yes, I know how that is."
"The point is, Twilight and the others since Nightmare Noon have had no need to use the Elements, and when they first did so it was totally on instinct and Twilight's overwhelming magic reserves. They need to learn to use their gifts on command -before- those trying to fill the power gap left by Nightmare Moon become a threat."
"Point taken. In fact, I can greatly appreciate it. The Senshi came close to being killed repeatedly due to having to improve their abilities on the fly. You are not foolish to want to take such precautions."
"I'm glade you think so. Because this directly involves your team mates."
"I figured as much. So what do you need?"
Setsuna nearly spat out her tea when she heard was Princess Celestia suggested.
