Moon Prince: Setsuna of the chase [Episode 24590]

by Kestral

With the Moon Prince sulking on the rooftop, and the Inners about to go see how many could pile on him in a crying glomp, Setsuna checked her watch.

"It's time," said her own voice. Present Pluto nodded to Future Pluto before the future version faded out.

Though most would not attribute her the skills, Setsuna could drive a number of vehicles. The other Senshi would have been moderately surprised to see her checking the straps holding a "boom box" style radio to the fender of a motorscooter, then putting on a helmet and driving off with it.

They would have thought it odd when she looked down an apparently empty alley.

They would not necessarily have understood when she put a "Bridge Out Detour" sign to block off a walkway and redirect traffic down the alley.

They would have been surprised when she clicked a button on the boom box and to hear "Benny Hill" chase sequence music begin playing.

They would not have expected her to pull a camcorder out of the storage compartment and to start filming.

They would have perhaps understood more if they'd known that Future Pluto had spoken briefly to her Present self.

Pluto herself didn't completely understand. Yet. Just that this would be good enough for her Future self to give her directions.

To understand what was going on you would have to look elsewhere about fifteen minutes previously.

Genma had tried to go home and hide from his creditors.

His wife had been preparing the dojo in the back for a seppuku ceremony.

Genma had fled. His wife, normally quiet reserved and proper, had run in pursuit.

The "Lynch Genma" mob he'd fled earlier had been surprised as he ran past them again. They gave pursuit, absolutely sure that the woman with the sword was someone else who'd been conned or swindled by Genma.

In the alley, something looking for Pure Hearts attempted to hide in the deeper shadows and wait for someone to draw near.

As the music started, Genma crested a hill, holding up a sign that read [I'm just a cute little panda - HONEST!]

As he came halfway down the hill, you could hear a muted roar. Just a little past the halfway point and a human tide was now cresting that same hill.

There were the outraged restaurant owners from earlier.

There was Nodoka Saotome.

There was five customers and a waiter from Olaf's Fine Seafoods after Genma had cut through the restaurant and devoured five bowls of Inagi Eel in his mad dash.

There was a van from World Wildlife Association.

Here came a large truck marked "Tokyo Zoo."

Here came a large number of partially clothed women whose hair was still wet, the result of Genma leading the chase into a bathhouse of the Ikari Clinic For Ridiculously Violent Women.

Here came a Channel Five NewsTruck.

Here came Uranus and Neptune, who were posing and saying something about overdue justice amidst a swirl of rose petals while the camera of the news crew was on them and they were in pursuit of the evil panda.

Over the top (of the hill), came the current practitioners of Martial Arts Ranching after the ugliest damn stray they'd ever seen. The result of Genma cutting across entirely the wrong yard. They were on horseback and coming out of a dramatic trail of dust despite it being just a set of walkways in Nerima.

Following them, and very unhappy that a known felon had tried to flee across their newly readied for inspection station house, much less the unlicensed parade and the normal effect of twenty horses going by, was a large number of police officers who were about ready to arrest anyone and everyone that stopped long enough for them to do so.

Wham!

A panda ran over the daimon in the alley.

Th-thump!

A group of restaurant owners flattened the daimon as it tried to get back up.

Stomp!

Nodoka delicately stepped on its head as she passed.

"....Dai..." The daimon began as it began lifting itself up again, vowing bloody vengeance.

Thump Thump Thump Thump Wham!

Olaf's Fine Seafoods ran over the creature.

Vrooom! beep beep

World Wildlife Association.

SccreeeeechTHUMP!

Tokyo Zoo.

"...dai?!..." The daimon managed, now covered in tire marks and shoe prints.

Trample!

Several exceedingly violent partially clothed women carrying improvised blunt trauma instruments.

ScreechVrmmmmm!

Channel Five News.

"For it is our destiny, as angst-filled champions of a New Age, to smite evil."Thwam!

Uranus and Neptune.

"hiyaaaa! Don't let that little dogie git away!"Blam! Blam!trample!

Martial Arts Ranching Sheriff's posse.

"...dai?..." Now with several sets of footprints, tire tracks, boot prints, and horse tracks covering it, the daimon struggled to get up but it seemed to have become one with the pavement.

"You're under arrest!"Wham! Wham! Wham! Whackity-whack!

The daimon found itself trampled, handcuffed, and repeatedly struck by clubs as it was arrested for everything the local police could think of.

Stepping out of the shadows, Setsuna turned off her camcorder and stowed it away again before elegantly getting back onto the motorscooter.

She had been right, she didn't want to miss this.
