"Freaky crazy snake lady?" supplied Naruto.
Anko glared at Naruto and was about to draw a kunai when a large block of ice whacked him in the head.
"Ouch," quoted Naruto, now face-down in the dirt.
Ami seemed to be studying the clouds.
"You're our jonin sensei?" asked Hotaru cheerfully.
"Yes," said Anko, frowning. "First off, I need to know what ninjutsu you know. Then I'll judge your taijutsu and see how good your genjutsu is."
"Isn't there supposed to be a test?" asked Ami.
"Who has time for that crap?" asked Anko. "Let me see what you can do. Otherwise I'll have to fight you, and think how much paperwork I'd have to fill out if any or all of you died. Almighty Sage - that would be a pain."
Watching her genin, and that she HAD genin was enough of a shock, demonstrate their jutsu, Anko made a few notes as she was going along. She didn't even look up at the sudden presence next to her. "Done with your group already?"
"Yes, Hinata has self-confidence issues, Rei has temper issues, and Naru has some of the worst luck I've ever seen," said Kurenai Yuhi. "They managed to pull together though."
"Recon team?" asked Anko.
"Hinata's got the Byakugan, Rei has been known to get clairvoyant flashes, and Naru seems to have a talent for 'finding' odds and ends," answered Kurenai. "When in combat, Hinata has the close range, Rei the long range, Naru's gadgets filling a mid-range role."
"Well, Naruto's got the short range," said Anko. "He has Shadow Clone and Multiple Shadow Clone. I think he needs further work on his taijutsu. Ami has the Hidden Mist technique and has Ice Senbon and Water Release:Gunshot down pretty much. Could use more speed though. Hotaru needs endurance work."
"Hotaru can't work too much on her endurance," said Kurenai. "Her constitution was flawed by Orochimaru's experiement that gave her those abilities."
"Yes, well, she's long range anyway," said Anko. "If it comes to close range, she's better off putting up that dome thing of hers and letting her team work around her."
"I'm surprised you were issued a genin team, much less one that is intended to be primarily oriented towards medical work," said Kurenai.
"I know a lot about poisons and antidotes, I thought that was why," said Anko, shrugging. "Useful stuff for future medics to learn. Any word on the other teams?"
