She was an American blue-eyed blonde, and stood out amongst the Japanese for that. In America though, her culture and upbringing had been Japanese. She couldn't fit into one due to her looks, and the other couldn't accept her for the way she acted.
The one she had loved had gone to another, but unlike the typical character of some romance manga - had stepped aside as gracefully as she could when it became known.
She'd been thirty-eight, having a cold beer in a hotel room in Amarillo, contemplating the failure of her life, when she'd heard a voice.
Would you like to try a do-over? In a world where you might find acceptance?
She'd found a black cat sitting on top of the TV watching her, and had just flippantly answered 'yes'.
Which was about twelve seconds before she found herself to be twelve years old, staring at a bunch of oddly dressed adults who were staring back at her, and completely naked. Naturally the first thing she did was scream and try to cover herself.
The next few days were kind of hazy. Apparently they'd pumped some chemicals into her and interrogated her, but she wasn't too clear on what they'd asked or what she'd answered.
She had no idea what anyone was talking about until the old guy had shown up, at which point she'd realized that this wasn't just a weird dream and also realized where she was.
She was in that kid's show, "Naruto." A TV program she'd given up on after the first three episodes because she didn't care for the main character acting like he'd decided to donate his brain to science and had done so on the spot. Which was a problem she had with a lot of shonen series.
So the cat had stuck her in "Naruto" but there was a lot of things that didn't track with that series. Though admittedly, she HAD only seen maybe three episodes of it. It was all strange, and why she seemed to be able to do these 'Earth Release' techniques was also strange.
Still, she was apparently stuck here. So best to work with the scenario until she could find a way to either get home or make a life for herself. Preferably one that didn't end up with her dead, because as she understood it - things could get really dangerous really quick here.
