That and his own presence, which could blend in with natural surroundings better than Zabuza normally could. Though Zabuza was a master of the ambush and the Silent Killing techniques - Haku was a natural for keeping any Killing Intent or bloodthirstiness locked away.
Haku kept an eye out, knowing that something different was going on. The Demon Brothers had been defeated. Then there had been that odd storm, and a feeling this morning that Zabuza-sama had confirmed. Something had changed in the world, but what it was - that was harder to pin down.
Haku's attention snapped back to the road that the bridge builder would follow.
The tall jonin looked sort of like some scarecrow. A blonde boy who was walking while reading a book, obviously an academic of some type - though possibly color blind. A pink-haired girl with an excessively large forehead who looked especially nervous. Then there was...
Haku didn't dare breathe. This last girl showed signs that she would be a rare beauty in just a few years. A classic sort of Asian beauty in fact, with dark expressive eyes framed by wide lashes. A little too muscular to be delicate - but a gymnast's sort of muscle. Lithe and graceful. Her long black hair a silk waterfall. Really, she was the picture of refined kunoichi beauty - as long as you could get past that sullen expression.
Haku backed away quickly and took a deep breath once he thought enough distance had been put into place. His heart was hammering away in his chest.
Still, he had their appearances now. He could report to Zabuza. Haku really hoped that their mission wouldn't involve killing that innocent little flower. Such beauty was a rare thing in this harsh world, and should be cherished.
