Several days of painting fences, walking dogs, catching cats and filing mission reports passed from the first day of Team 8's formation. It grated on Naruto's nerves, but at least he'd expected it.
Ino, however, was less patient.
"What the hell, filing clerk again!?" she demanded. "Why the hell are we getting called in to help file papers so much? Is it because there are two girls on the team and we're led by a woman or something?"
"There are worst missions to have," Kurenai said with just a trace of irritation herself.
However, she had to admit that sometimes it seemed like the mission givers would find the mission that most thoroughly annoyed a particular team and stick it to them as often as possible.
"How many of these D-Ranks have we done now anyway?" Naruto asked.
"Seven," Hinata said, coming in with a tray full of tea cups for herself and her teammates.
"Any progress on those gifts for your visiting friends?" Kurenai asked then.
"Yeah, we got some ideas," Naruto said as he sorted papers with his clones.
"Takamachi-sensei comes from a ninja family on her home world," Hinata said. "So we thought maybe a headband protector with her own family name on it?"
"Really?" Kurenai said, taking interest in that. "There are ninja arts on the other world?"
"Not really," Naruto said. "Nanoha's home world, Earth has them and samurai. They have some good taijutsu specialists, but they said almost nobody on Earth has used chakra for centuries."
"Takamachi-sensei is lucky that she became involved with the TSAB by accident," the Hyuga noted.
"Wait, isn't Earth where you said gorgons are from?" Ino asked.
"Right, back when Earth still had a lot of chakra-wielders, I guess," Naruto said off-handedly. "Not sure about that, went there a couple of times and it's like only Nanoha, Hayate and Terra actually have any sort of chakra."
"There were a handful of others," Hinata noted.
Kurenai took note of that statement. Apparently this "Earth" and their own world had interacted at least once in the past. That was both intriguing and worrisome. She'd have to suggest a look see into this other world. If it truly held only a few people trained to use chakra, it should have been somewhat safe.
"Terra's the gorgon you know right?" Ino said curious for her own reasons. "Think she can come tell me how to do this stuff?"
"Well, she doesn't really know," Hinata said apologetically. "She activated her bloodline after getting this strange amulet that seemed to be an instruction tool."
"Well, that sounds familiar," Ino muttered with narrowed eyes.
