"Okay," said Naruto, exchanging a glance with Sasuke who shrugged. Apparently he didn't know what a 'high school' or 'track club' was either.
"Who's 'they'?" asked Naruto.
"In my world, things were normal," said Sakura. "A bad day was usually something like getting a bad score on a test or finding out that the boy you really liked was actually only interested in old men who crossdressed."
Sasuke was certain there was a reason she was looking at him when she said that, he was also equally certain he didn't want to think about that.
"So it was kind of a shock when mutant-demon-ant things from another dimension started swarming out over the cities," said Sakura. "I mean, really, even in this ninja world you must not get THAT a lot."
"What did they look like?" asked Naruto.
Sasuke blinked and looked at his sword-wielding companion, thinking that he didn't like the implications of that question either.
"Red and black, about the size of a large dog," said Sakura.
"Acid-spitters?" asked Naruto. "Attack in swarms?"
Sakura blinked and looked at Naruto a bit differently. "Yeah."
"Type 14 Helspawn then," said Naruto thoughtfully. "Someone messing with spells to summon the dead left a gate open. I'm surprised no one went in and closed the gate."
"If we had anyone capable of doing so," said Sakura drily, "or even knew what they were or where they were coming from - I'm sure someone would have."
"Ah, right," said Naruto, nodding to acknowledge the point.
"Anyway, after a few months I started developing odd 'talents'," said Sakura. "Right after I got an insect bite. It was kind of noticeable in that the bug exploded shortly afterwards."
"Really?" asked Naruto, taking a seat on one of the crates. "Something that may have come through a Gate or had a massive amount of magical energy affecting it then. What kind of 'talents'?"
"Well," said Sakura.
