"She looks a lot like our Sakura," said Sasuke, after looking very closely at her. "There are differences though."
"Well," said Naruto. "You'd know her best. For my part - I knew her for a whole day, or was it two?"
The girl took a step back as Naruto got up, walked to in front of her, then bowed. "Glad to meet you. My name is Naruto Uzumaki, swordsman and priest, practitioner of Shinmei Ryu."
"Okay," said the girl. "That's screwed up."
Naruto straightened, frowning. "Excuse me?"
"Shinmei Ryu was the style of swordcraft in 'Love Hina' that Tsuruko and Makoto used," explained Sakura.
"You know Lady Tsuruko and Makoto?" asked Naruto, sounding even more puzzled. "Who is 'Love Hina'?"
"It was a manga regarding a bunch of characters in this dormitory," said Sakura, shaking her head. "But you're saying there's really a Tsuruko and a Makoto who use that style?"
"Yes," said Naruto. "They are both shrine priestesses and monster slayers of some reknown."
"This is SO weird," said Sakura. "And neither of you are like the Naruto and Sasuke I knew."
"This other world had a version of myself?" asked Naruto. "I know a few monks who would be fascinated by this. What am I like in this other world?"
"Dead," said Sakura. "You were one of the early casualties. You bought me time to get away."
Naruto wasn't exactly sure how to react to that.
"Up until then you were a loud-mouthed idiot who'd bug me for no reason at all, then you died for me and I had to try and come to terms with that." Sakura looked over Naruto. "You're not as tall, maybe a bit younger, and you don't have that lowlife Yakuza feel to you."
"Gee, uhm, thanks," said Naruto, really unsure of how to react.
"And me?" asked Sasuke.
"Are you gay and hanging around with strange old guys that like to dress in women's clothing?" asked Sakura.
"Urk," managed Sasuke, temporarily misplacing his cool.
"I take it that's a 'no'," said Sakura.
"It is most definitely a 'no'," Sasuke assured her.
"So, I'm a swordsman, Sasuke is a ninja," said Naruto. "What skills do you bring to this team?"
"Well," said Sakura, "I'm-"
