"Basically, yes," said Toltiir.
"HOW?!" demanded Asuka.
WHAP! went a magazine, landing on Asuka's head.
"What the heck is this?!" demanded the Germanic tsundere. Then she got a good look at it. "What the- 'Secrets Of Evangelion'?"
The cat just made himself comfortable.
"Ayanami, Rei... WHAT?!"
"Uh huh," said Toltiir.
"Whoever wrote this likes mindscrew don't they?" asked Asuka.
"You could say that," admitted Toltiir. "Unfortunately, for roughly 90% of all universes where there are Evangelions - it's mostly accurate."
"Waitaminute," said Asuka, looking at the now-turquoize wall. "I'm still getting my head around this multiple-universe thing. So, according to this - Rei is Shinji's half-angel half-sister sort of?"
"Depends on various factors, such as how overwhelming Angel DNA is to human DNA, but yes - mostly," agreed the cat.
"Cloned from DNA of his mother plus Angel..." Asuka's voice trailed off as something occurred to her and she went to her own entry in there. "Huh. Hey! I am NOT 'tsundere'!"
"Of course not," said Toltiir, rolling his eyes.
"I am not!" insisted Asuka. With a little 'hmph' she went back to reading. "Okay. Hmmm. Wait, you said '90%' of universes where we have Evangelions. So there are others where we don't?"
"I've seen universes where you pilot giant robots against Lovecraftian Beings," said Toltiir. "Others where the Evangelions are almost unrecognizable from what you're used to except in name. I've seen universes where you're Shinji's childhood friend and Rei is a friendly alien-girl posing as a transfer student. There's at least one universe where she's a yuki-onna and you're an artificial life-form. There are, in case you didn't know, an awful lot of universes out there."
"So, in this ninja world," said Asuka, "we don't normally exist but you can use a method of sticking us in."
"Right," said Toltiir. "This is one of the universes where the ninja in question grab electronics and other items from other universes using a summoning ritual. Roughly one time out of ten, they get something they hadn't intended to. Which is Rei's excuse for being there."
"She's got an AT Field," said Asuka.
"In the universe you both are from, she was able to shut off all interaction down to the quantum level in a roughly one square mile area," said Toltiir. "It was while Tabris was invading the base, and you were sort of incapacitated at that point."
"That's putting it lightly," noted Asuka. "I was in a coma."
Toltiir shrugged.
"So... if I go in there, and I'm not saying I will, how am I supposed to compete?" asked Asuka.
Toltiir shrugged again, apparently absorbed in the events being shown on the TV.
"Well, I dunno about the name," said Naruto, scratching his head. "I sure ain't feeling 'Absolute Terror' looking at it."
Rei considered that, then nodded slightly. "I have it on good authority that the laws regarding such are different here. So what name would you suggest?"
"Can you form it into different shapes?" asked Sasuke, curious.
Rei formed a wall of transparent orange. "This is also different. Normally an AT field is invisible to normal human eyes."
"So how about you call it 'Barrier'?" said Naruto, tapping on the orange shield.
