"Can you opaque that? Every time I look out at that it feels like my brain and eyes are going to turn liquid and go spewing."
Toltiir made a gesture and the walls of the bubble turned to a solid turquoize instead of transparent.
"Thanks," said Asuka Langley Soryuu, rubbing her forehead. "Can you do something about this headache?"
Poof!
"Thanks," said Asuka, straightening up. "Much better."
"You are asking for permission to insert us within another dimension, another universe?" asked Rei.
"Yes," said the cat. "If you go with it, you'll have lives in this universe which will be slightly faded in your memories. I've done the 'equally real' thing a few times and it doesn't seem to work well, some sort of conflict in the primitive brain mechanism causes problems. In this particular universe that could be easily fatal, so I'm avoiding that."
"Huh," said Asuka, plopping down then looking pointedly at her plugsuit. "Dressed like this?"
Ka-POOOF!
Asuka fingered the outfit and then gave a disbelieving expression to the cat. "We're NINJA or something?"
Piff!
Asuka reached up, grabbed the scholar cap off her head, and threw it at the cat, slicing him in half.
"M-Mein gott, I didn't mean..." began Asuka, coming up in alarm and looking nervously at the bubble around them.
"There's no blood," pointed out Rei calmly.
"Well, no, that's generally not funny," said the top half of the kitty, sticking his head up.
Asuka flopped back down, staring. Then she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Okay..."
Rei checked her own kunoichi outfit and noted it covered her a lot more than Asuka's did. "We are wearing different headbands."
"Right," said Toltiir. "You, Misato, Ritsuko, and Asuka are all from different ninja villages."
"No," said Asuka.
"Pardon me?" asked Toltiir.
"Same village," said Asuka. "You're setting us up so that we could end up killing each other. I want us all in the same village."
"Hmmm," hmmmed Toltiir. "You'll go along with it then?"
"It beats sitting in a coma, watching Rei's head decay," said Asuka.
"I'll have to use a different mechanism then," said Toltiir. "Maybe... Oh. This is a universe where they're doing summoning rituals. I'll just use that."
"If this world is one with ninja and stuff, how're we supposed to cope?" asked Asuka. "None of us have any of those legendary ninja skills."
"Translation effect, I can manage that," said Toltiir.
Rei held up a hand. "I volunteer. Asuka can then watch my progress and determine if such a thing is acceptable."
Poof! went Rei.
Piff! went an 18" TV as it appeared.
"That's the best you can do?" asked Asuka, pointing at it.
Pa-dumf!
"Big screen, quadraphonic stereo, high definition," said Asuka as she inspected it. "Okay. Got any popcorn?"
Puff!
"In a bag would have been good. In my lap, not so much."
"Picky picky picky," said the cat, before remedying that.
Konoha, summoning room
"So, introductions, I suppose," said Naruto. "My name is Naruto Uzumaki. I am a swordpriest and monk of Shinmei Ryu. This is my sword, Hinata."
"Pleased to meet you."
Rei blinked at being introduced to a wooden sword, more for the novelty of having that sword speak to her.
"Sasuke Uchiha," said the brooding-looking one. "I'm the normal one."
"He's very good at throwing kunai and has some fire techniques," said Naruto.
Sasuke's eyes flicked to Naruto, looking annoyed for a moment before deciding to let it go.
"I am... Rei Ayanami. I piloted an experimental combat vehicle for defense of my world," said Rei. "I have extensive combat training but this world has neither the vehicles or weapons that I am proficient in."
"Oh?" asked Naruto. "So you've at least got some hand-to-hand skills if you were in the military right?"
"Yes, that is so," said Rei with a slight nod towards the blonde. "I am also trained in basic knife fighting and with a spear."
"Anything else?" asked Sasuke, showing irritation again.
