Misato held up a beer, inspecting the glass of substance. "Our nice rational world had four hundred foot tall combat mecha fighting Angels."
"Huh," said Asuka, looking up. "Well, when you put it like that..."
"It's funny, I thought I'd be the one freaking out," Shinji confided to Rei.
"I am currently freaking out," said Rei softly.
Everyone, including the pokemon (a crowd that had grown rapidly as they followed the pikachu to the bar) turned and looked at the girl in question.
"You're very quiet about it," said Shinji eventually.
"Eh, fine," said Misato. "Blondie over there needs to recover. Then he does his mumbo-jumbo teleport thingie and we all go back to our world. In the meantime, I have beer and therefore all is right with the world."
"I prefer sake, but this isn't bad," admitted Jiraiya.
"A-no, that is," said Hinata. "We don't have any of the local currency do we?"
Misato blinked, considered her bottle, considered the barkeep, and frowned. "Uhm. How about credit card?"
The bartender didn't look amused.
"Oh, uhm, look at the time!" said Misato, checking our watch. "We really need to get going!"
"You owe me a new watch," said Misato, fifteen minutes later.
"I could have escaped easily enough with both genin," said Jiraiya with a shrug. "Part of being a legendary ninja."
"Running out on bar tabs is part of being a ninja?" asked Asuka.
"The life of a ninja is filled with running," said Jiraiya thoughtfully. "Either to something or away from it. Hmm. Might be able to use that line later on."
"Pii pii pika pi!" said one of the yellow electric-mouse things, pointing to the bottle in Asuka's hands.
"Asuka, you're too young for that," said Misato.
"Mine!" said Asuka, holding it protectively. "If we're going to run into freaking POKEMON and NINJAS, I want to have some hard liquor back just in case it gets WORSE."
"Uhm," said Hinata, absently stroking the fur of some creature that had apparently decided to ride her shoulder.
"Right!" said Asuka, putting a thumb against the spout of a water fountain and directing the stream towards Naruto.
Naruto sputtered awake, but streaks of green started swirling around them.
"Oh hell," said Misato. "He wasn't fully awake when he started this, was he?"
"Nope, and the last thing he was trying to do before collapsing was use this very jutsu," agreed Jiraiya as he looked around.
"Wha?" asked Naruto, shaking water off his face.
The dome formed, flashed with silver fire and was gone.
The remains of the water fountain, part of it having gone with the travelers, began spraying up.
