"That's us," agreed the swordsman. "Naruto Uzumaki, Shinmei School Swordpriest. My sword is Hinata."
"Pleased to meet you."
The girl blinked as she realized the wooden sword had just spoken to her, then shrugged it off. She was a ninja, so the unexpected was something to expect. Except that never really seemed to work out in real life.
"Sasuke Uchiha," said the other boy.
"Okay, Okoi Kisaragi," said the girl with a grin, jerking a thumb at herself. "Taijutsu my specialty. I'm also pretty good with knives and kunai. You're an Uchiha, so you got that Sharingan thingie right?"
"Not currently active," said Sasuke, raising an eyebrow.
"So you're a ninjutsu specialist," said Okoi with a nod. "While blondie here despite having a wooden sword is a kenjutsu specialist. Which means I'm the one who either goes to close range with an opponent while you fire away from mid range - or blondie goes close range and I go long and snipe at the target. Right?"
"My name is Naruto," said Naruto. "And I do have a few mid and long range attacks."
"Yeah, but your specialty is going to be up-close-and-personal, am I right?" asked Okoi, winking at Naruto.
"What about you? Any specialties?" asked Sasuke.
"Well, let me demonstrate," said Okoi, reaching out and grabbing Naruto's arm. After a few seconds, she frowned.
"And?" asked Sasuke.
"I'm draining his chakra, but it feels funny," said Okoi. "This is weird. That and I can't seem to make a dent in his reservoir."
"His chakra feels funny?" asked Sasuke.
"Because I'm not a ninja maybe?" asked Naruto.
"No," said Okoi, letting go and looking puzzled. Also somewhat reddish. "It's warm, bright, it's... pretty."
Sasuke smirked at Naruto. "He's got pretty chakra?"
"Ah, anyway," said Okoi, visibly shaking herself out of her mood and trying to reclaim her earlier brashness. "It's kinda like taking a soldier pill. I have to expel the extra chakra or use it up or it'll cause me problems."
"Can you transfer chakra?" asked Naruto. "For example, if Sasuke were running low and I still had some - could you take from me and give to Sasuke?"
Sasuke blinked and considered how mind-bogglingly useful THAT could be in his quest for vengeance.
"No, afraid not," said Okoi. "It might be possible, but nobody in my clan has that particular jutsu. We're a fairly new clan though, split off from the Akado clan two generations ago."
