"Going over previous missions for information?" asked Naruto as they waited for the beam-down.
"Yes," said Saber.
"Oh?" asked Kakashi, eyeing the small device with had strange text and diagrams floating above its surface. "Anything interesting?"
"Leave your books behind," said Saber. "Pornography is forbidden within their religion. As is gambling, swearing, weapons that leave the hand - unless you are of their mage-priest class, religious texts of any kind save their own, and anything resembling a soup."
"A world without soup? No ramen?" asked Naruto, shuddering.
"There are three hundred and thirty eight prohibited activities for the general populace," said Saber. "Oh, and we are NOT going to one of their temples in any city designated 'holy' within its name."
"Why not?" asked Kakashi just before the ship vanished around them and they reappeared on a dune in the desert.
"Mandatory shaving of all hair, even that normally concealed by clothing," said Saber.
"No, I think we'll be avoiding that," agreed Sasuke, though neither of the other males disagreed with the sentiment.
"Is that one of the three hundred and thirty eight prohibitions?" asked Kakashi.
"Yes," said Saber. "Growing hair in a holy city is one of them. The speculation by the investigator was that this was originally because the holy cities were the most crowded and there is apparently a form of disease-carrying insect that likes to hide in hair. According to this initial surveyor, roughly half of those prohibitions follow such things. We won't be able to fit in among the natives anyway - but even visitors are required to follow the local rules. The penalty for almost any offense seems to involve being bound in public or flogging or death."
"Sounds like such a nice pleasant place," said Sasuke.
"Temperatures in the desert vary wildly but are universally what we would consider hot and dry," said Saber.
"You said we couldn't fit in with the natives?" asked Kakashi.
"They look superficially human, except for this area at the bridge of the nose and their ears," said Saber. "Unfortunately they have a very developed sense of smell and will be able to scent that we're outsiders."
"Well, let's get tracking," said Naruto. "The sooner we find the compartment, the sooner we can signal we're ready to leave. Coeur Blanc!"
"[Ready. Set Up.]"
"Wide Area Search," cast Naruto.
