"Good of you to join us, Kakashi," said the Hokage, making a point of looking at the clock of the wall.
"Team Seven failed," said Kakashi.
"Excuse me?" asked Asuma. "I heard Team 7 had to face Team 8, and ended up taking down two foreign missing-nin and capturing a third. That they even managed to fight a more experienced genin team to a standstill."
"Actually, they managed to knock out last year's rookie-of-the-year and it was only the presence of Maito Gai that managed to keep it from being a total rout," said Kurenai. "I heard from Hinata after she returned from her assistance with that test."
"My test, my standards," replied Kakashi.
"And so Kakashi Hatake fails another team," said Asuma, shrugging as punctuation. "Still, are you really going to send a group capable of doing that back to the Academy?"
"No," said the Hokage, surprising several of the jonin present. "No, that would not be prudent. There are those in the village who would find Naruto's current skillset too tempting a target to avoid his recruitment."
Danzo, filled in all the jonin present.
"So, what are you going to do with them? Or are you just going to place Naruto Uzumaki somewhere?" asked Asuma finally.
"Ah, as to that," said the Hokage.
"We get shares in the bounty on three missing-nin?" asked Sakura, numbly taking the envelope.
Sasuke merely glanced at the envelope then tucked it away without comment.
"It also goes on your record as ninja," pointed out the chunin. "Stopping missing-nin from kidnapping or killing a member of your community is generally considered a good thing."
"So... does this mean we don't have to go back to the Academy despite Kakashi-sensei saying we failed?" asked Sakura.
