On the other hand, the boy had defeated her as part of the Tournament.
In another world, another life, Ranma and his father would have offered her a grave insult by eating the prize to the Tournament. He would have been in girl form, she would have been defeated and go into "towering need for vengeance" mode. She would have discovered on that vengeance quest that there were aspects of life outside the village that appealed to her and so she'd let the quest drag on a bit more - bit by bit. Then she would have fallen hard for the big lug on meeting him as a guy.
In this world, this life, he had been part of the Tournament, Shampoo had been calm about the whole thing, and she still hadn't discovered life outside the village.
Therefore she was ambivalent about finding Ranma. On the one hand, a large number of Amazons expected her to give the Kiss Of Marriage. Yet that wasn't normally even a vague outcome to the Tournament and she wasn't too sure about her own feelings on the whole thing.
Nor was she too sure about this.
"(What do you mean the animals turned into girls and ran off, leaving you with a blubbering panda customer?)" Shampoo looked at the Jusenkyo Guide as if he were crazy. Mainly because she was wondering if he was crazy.
"(This are the cursed springs of Jusenkyo. You see that pool? That is the Spring Of Drowned Girl. Anyone who falls into that spring turns into a young girl. When splashed with cold water they'll turn into a girl. Hot water will turn them back to animals.)" The Guide frowned at the Amazon. How many times did he have to explain this?
A wandering boy wandered up. "Pardon me, do either of you know where the nearest village is?"
Shampoo and the Guide both looked at the boy.
"(How many times are you going to interrupt us and ask the same question?)" Shampoo snarled. This was really getting on her nerves. Even if she didn't speak the language she knew that one phrase by heart now.
"How did you two get here ahead of me?!" Ryouga was astonished. He didn't realize that Jusenkyo had only one entry that didn't require walking through a pool. Or that he kept missing it.
"This getting really old, young customer," said the Guide. "Why not you ask panda?"
The panda looked up from his fifth bowl of rice and nodded. He'd just leave before the bill came due.
Ryoga thwacked it with his umbrella. "You've got to be kidding me. A panda? WHOOAOAAAAAAAAAA!" *splash!*
Genma blinked. Oh well. It wasn't like it was fatal.
Ryouga slogged to the edge of the pool. "What did you do that for... I. What happened to my voice? What... EEEEEEEKKKKKK! I've got breasts?!"
"(That customer fell in Spring Of Drowned Girl. Terrible tragic story...)" The Guide continued his spiel, then repeated it in Chinese for his other guest. "That Spring get lot of use lately."
Shampoo blinked. Okay, maybe now she could believe. Especially with the busty girl chasing the panda all over the place, trying to hit it with her umbrella.
