Kakashi had been about to say something else, possibly give the command for the test to start. His visible eye locked onto Hinata at that and put things together.
"Terra-chan?"
"What do you suppose she's dreaming about?" asked Naruto, who at twelve was pretty clueless about such things.
"No idea," said Terra, who was also twelve but at least a little less clueless.
"Uhm, anyway... we should go ahead and start," decided Kakashi, thinking it couldn't POSSIBLY be that. Though she was developing early, he could tell because she'd flopped over and that jacket of hers was open and you could tell that she was showing the signs of developing that Hyuga bloodline. Not the Byakugan one either.
Naruto and Terra leapt away from the jonin, cautious.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
"Fire Bullet Jutsu!"
Kakashi frowned as he noticed the wire gleaming. He was supposed to jump back and trigger a trap, eh?
So he jumped to the side so that he was standing in front of the sleeping Hinata. As expected, the rain of kunai and fire bullets stopped immediately.
"Mmmm. No, Terra-chan. We mustn't... oh!" (giggle)
Kakashi couldn't help it. He knew better. He just had to stare at the sleeping Hyuga and wonder what she could be dreaming about. She was TWELVE for crying out loud! That sort of dream wasn't supposed to hit for... well, for awhile at least.
"Summoning jutsu!"
Kakashi blinked and returned his attention to the bushes where Terra was hiding. He'd heard about that. All three of them had some sort of summons. Hinata's summon had turned out to be an odd little creature that threw lightning jutsu.
A little girl made entirely of ice walked out of the bushes and regarded him.
"Okayyyy," said Kakashi. "And you are?"
She thrust a hand forward, there was a sudden whirl of air that went beyond just being 'cold' by several degrees. A block of ice formed around... a log.
Kakashi blinked from his own concealment as the ice-girl looked around. She looked a bit different from the traditional yuki-onna seen on Winter Festival cards, but that wasn't too odd. The girl looked around, clearly not used to having to hunt down her opponents.
"Summoning jutsu!"
Kakashi nodded to himself. Go figure. Now that Terra had done hers, now Naruto wanted to show his off.
Several Naruto clones dropped down atop him a moment later. As they were shadow clones, a single decent hit to each dispelled them. Now the ice-girl had located him and was circling to get a better shot. Which meant that Terra was waiting for a chance to snipe from the shadows.
Except for Hinata being asleep, they really DID have a handle on teamwork, didn't they?
"It's too big!" cried out Hinata, suddenly waking up.
That was distraction enough, a tinkle sounded as a shadow clone managed to snag the bells.
Kakashi didn't go far. For one thing, it wasn't more than a few seconds after he left that Naruto was telling Hinata to "say ahh" so he could feed her.
"The part I don't understand is what were you dreaming about, Hinata? That sounded really weird," noted Naruto as he fed the bound kunoichi some rice.
"Mfff. mfff," tried Hinata until Terra scolded Naruto and held a water bottle to Hinata's lips.
As soon as she was done, Hinata sighed. "Oh. I can barely remember it but it was something about ice cream."
"Oh, that makes sense," said Naruto.
"Oh really?" asked Terra, noting how much blushing Hinata was doing.
"So I guess we're going back to the Academy?" asked Hinata.
"Yeah, I figure we can get another sensei next time around," said Naruto.
"Or you could make do with the one you got," said Kakashi from directly behind Naruto.
"YEEEK!" squeaked Naruto, leaping in the air.
Hinata looked ready to faint.
Terra, on the other hand, had half-drawn a sword before Kakashi's hand stopped her. "You pass."
