"All rise. The Honorable Judge Harry Anderson presiding. You may be seated."
"Thanks, Bull. Okay. Hayate Yagami of Earth, you were transferred to the Mid-Childan court system due to the lack of experience of Non-administered world #97 in dealing with magical artifacts."
Hayate nodded.
"Taking into account various factors such as you not having any idea what was going on, that you turned yourself in as soon as you did discover those events, and that you are cooperating," continued Judge Anderson, "is balanced by several other factors such as your planet following this, your age, the pain and suffering the Book inflicted on you due to your bond with it, and the sheer amount of damage done and that you didn't seek to restrict your Wolkenritter's actions until everything had gone completely squirrelly."
"I understand," said Hayate.
"Now, a court should concern itself entirely with the facts of the case and not let press coverage influence anything," said Judge Anderson. "We all know that it DOES and that if you're ever going to be accepted back on your homeworld - the details of that punishment will already be known there. So here's the deal. You're going to a juvenile correction center for mages, at which point your magical education including the sort of laws and procedures governing mages will be taught to you. Following that, there will be community service and probation not to be less than ten years."
"I understand," repeated Hayate.
"There's also physical therapy and medical treatments, and I'm told you'll regain full use of your legs within a year," said Judge Anderson. "The muscle atrophy is apparently the tricky part."
Hayate nodded, trying not to show any relief.
"I'm going to suggest, and it's just a suggestion mind you, that you join the TSAB for your community service," said Judge Anderson. "You've got a lot of magical talent, probably why the Book chose you, and they'd be able to help with Reinforce and the other problems you're going to have to deal with."
Years later:
"-so Hayate-chan is doing well?" asked Naruto.
"Yes, she's doing quite well actually," said Fate. "Reinforce Zwei is almost finished. I haven't seen you in some time, Naruto. What have you been up to?"
"Yeah, it's been a year since I left Nanoha's place," admitted the fourteen-year-old. "Man, where to start?"
"You spent two years with my family learning to be a better ninja," pointed out Nanoha. "Don't let your skills deteriorate or you'll be punished!"
"Kit's doing pretty good," said Naruto as the white-gold fox stuck her head up over the edge of the table and let out a pleased noise. "Still sleeps a lot."
"You look a little taller," noted Fate. "Where's Ifurita and Lina, anyway?"
"They're..." said Naruto as little sparkles began appearing around him. "What the-" He began to turn transparent. "Wait a minute. What's-" Naruto vanished.
"Naruto?!" asked Nanoha, checking. "I don't think that was intentional."
"We should check with the TSAB and see if they've got a track on him," said Fate.
Things had been reset since Naruto had left, reverting to what some would consider 'canon' - except now Naruto had been in the Hokage's office when he'd abruptly vanished.
Three seconds had passed since Naruto had vanished. He reappeared exactly where he'd disappeared, and because he had been sitting down when he'd vanished - his first move had been to fall backwards on his butt.
"Naruto?" asked the Hokage, seeing the boy apparently change clothes and age before his eyes.
"Jiji?" asked the blonde boy as he got slowly up and looking around, the little fox-critter hiding in one of the large pockets of his longcoat. "I'm back in Konoha?"
