Mischief Fragment - Videogame: Naruko and the Test That Wasn't [Episode 251560]

by Kestral

"He's late, again," noted Sakura.

"Pfeh," said Naruko, rummaging through her pack. "Hey, Sasuke. Here's the one I promised you, consider it a 'peace offering' - just don't try using it yet. You may need your chakra for whatever this lame test is gonna be."

Sasuke caught the scroll easily, noting it was fairly old and unfurled it to look it over quickly. He frowned a little as he considered it. "I've already got a fire... oh. I see. Hmmm."

"What was that?" asked Sakura, considering that maybe Naruko was trying to steal Sasuke away from her. It didn't seem likely though, from what she could tell Naruko didn't like Sasuke even in the slightest. Unless she was one of those 'tsundere' types - which might be possible.

"If we're going to be part of a team, it's best we try to help each other out," explained Naruko. "Teamwork is one of the big advantages of the Leaf - we've got some strong ninja here but historically it's our ability to cooperate with each other that's been our biggest strength. So I just dipped into my collection and gave Sasuke a fire technique, which his clan is supposed to be really good at. That one is Fire Dragon."

"It's a different version of Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique," corrected the distracted Sasuke. "Very different in some respects. One can breathe out the fire dragon and then direct its flight."

"So you can use it?" asked Naruko. Bloody hell, can't you even manage a 'thank you' you pompous little...

"It takes a lot of chakra to use," said Sasuke, rolling the scroll back up. "It'll do."

Naruko waited a few moments, then sighed.

"Ahem."

Naruko glanced at Sakura who was looking very expectant.

"Okay," said Naruko finally. Might as well for the same reasons but couldn't someone offer ME something in return? "What can you do?"

"Well, I know the Academy Three," said Sakura, hoping Sasuke was listening so he could be impressed. "I'm the top scoring kunoichi from the Academy on tests."

"So you're a taijutsu expert?" asked Naruko, sounding hopeful.

"Uhm, well, not so much," admitted Sakura.

"Medical training?" asked Naruko, brightening at the thought.

"Err, no. Basic first aid though!"

Naruko's face fell a bit. Still, she was going to try. "Genjutsu?"

"Uhm, well I know what it is."

"Elemental affinity?"

"I've heard of it?"

"Large chakra capacity?"

"I'm just out of the Academy you know."

"Good chakra control?" tried Naruko.

"Yes! I was rated a 3!" said Sakura, now a little less irritated as they came to one of her strengths.

"Okay," said Naruko thoughtfully. "So something that doesn't require a lot of chakra but does control. I'll see what I've got after we get through this fight and whatever Hatake wants to bring up."

"'Fight'?" asked Sakura.

"How many you count?" asked Sasuke, otherwise not moving from the same brooding pose he'd adopted after putting the scroll away.

"Seven," said Naruko, making a show of checking her watch. "Eight now."

"Hmph," indicated Sasuke. "More arriving every minute."

"What are you -" began Sakura, looking around.

Which was enough of a signal that those watching decided to move.

Kakashi Hatake was ready to administer the bell test.

The problem was that his genin were not waiting for him to administer the bell test.

"Sasuke! This is my love for you!" said a girl throwing various pointy implements of doom.

"Sasuke! Accept my love!" said another girl, trying to do blazing whip action and managing to hit Sakura in the face three times when she was clearly aiming at Sasuke.

"DIE!" declared Sakura as she grabbed the whip, pulled the wielder close enough and then began pummelling said whip-wielder.

Naruko and Sasuke were back-to-back and defending themselves from various girls who were attacking for absolutely no reason that Kakashi could see.

"Love letter delivery!" declared one attacker, throwing envelopes towards Sasuke.

Sasuke simply whipped through some hand-seals and blew a fireball that burned away all the paper products.

"Sakura, get back in line!" demanded Naruko.

"I'm back," said Sakura, getting back and the three shifted so that they were now all facing a different direction.

Kakashi blinked. He hadn't even DONE the test and they were already functioning as a team?!

"So..." said Kakashi after waiting until the fight was over and the three genin started discussing defensive strategies to use in the future. "What happened?"

"Sasuke's fanclub attacked him," said Naruko. "I don't know why. The only ones I didn't see trying to jump him were Sakura and that blonde girl."

"Ino Yamanaka," supplied Sakura. "I don't get it either."

"Hmmm," hmmmed Sasuke.

"Could it have been anything you said?" asked Naruko. "Something they could have taken out of context? They were all trying to attack you and declare their love at the same time. It was like they all went yandere on you.... Oh. That might make a good song."

Sasuke snorted. "I don't think it was anything I could have said."

"Well, trust me, after that tabloid incident in Kiri - I know what it can be like to have someone start misquoting you," said Naruko as she wrote something out in a notepad.

"Naruko? Stick to ninja-work when you're on the clock. Songwriting later," advised Kakashi. "Considering yesterday, I'm surprised to see you work together like that."

"Yeah," said Naruko, putting her notes away. "I was surprised too. Good job, Sakura, but doesn't that hurt?"

"It's nothing," said Sakura.

"You ought to get that fixed," said Sasuke.

"Eh?" asked Sakura. Sasuke is concerned about me getting a little scratch?

"Don't tell me you didn't even notice," said Naruko, now staring at Sakura.

"Notice what?" asked Sakura skeptically. Then noticed Sasuke's expression and Kakashi pointing. She reached up and found the shuriken in her forehead. "Oh. Ah. Uhm."

Kakashi pulled it out and was rewarded with s gout of blood and Sakura collapsing. "Medical supplies?"
