So of course, it came into Ranma's life.
It hadn't even been his problem to begin with. Cologne had located it, and known that she had been dealing with something that should be taken care of with the upmost care and speed. Enough that it was never a consideration to use it for any purpose what so ever. The preperations had been completed, and she was about to place it in a container where it would be safe.
There was only one small problem: Happosai.
He had heard of the item, and like his pupil Genma, hadn't bothered to check beyond the first impressions of it. That being the case, he waited until the Amazon Elder's back was turned, and stole the itme from the table it was sitting on. Then he went on his merry way, intending to show off his new 'aquisition'.
Once she noticed that it was gone, she knew that she had to get it back, and called for Shampoo to aid her. They followed in the wake of the pervert, attempting to get the item back. It went even as far as to have them enlist the help of Ukyo as they passed by. This surprised the chef, but she knew that it would have to be bad if they had to include her in on it.
Together, the trio made their way to Happosai's destination, where they found him cackling at what he had done. The assembled Tendos and Saotomes looked rather bored at yet another one of the old pervert's ideas. but when the three females came to stop him, they realized tha gravity of the situation they were in. Kasumi and Nabiki made for safety, while Ranma joined in to help. As for the fathers, they tried, but were inffectual. They'd managed to delay their Master somewhat, giving enough time for Kodachi to appear and join in.
They'd actually managed to get the thing away from the pervert and it flew into the air, sailing for a hard crash to the ground. The four girls leapt for the item, catching it together. As they held it safely aloft, the sun hit it, and a flash of light blinded those that were looking.
After blinking the light-blurs away, Ranma looked back and some thing that made him stop in shock. He had to touch them to make certain, but there was no mistaking what had happened.
His fiancees (and Kodachi) were stone.
According to Cologne, the spell had been to keep a person 'as still as the sones in the hills'. Most assumed that it meant that it kept a person at the age that they used it at. Happosai had taken it that it would freeze pretty girls in their tracks. Fortunately for the old pervert, he had disappeared during the light show, or he would have been paste at that moment, but there was another sight that made Ranma stumble and nearly fall in shock.
His mother had been coming out to see what the ruckus had been about. And now she was as much stone as the girls.
Nabiki, once she had gotten over the shock of what had happened, had helped Ranma find something that might lead to a cure for the girls and Nodoka. Which had led to the 'seer' and his trip to the area that had spawned the thing that had cursed them. Tatewakei Kuno had been more than willing to pay, and even wanted to join him on his quest, but he needed someone somewhat reliable to help guard the frozen forms in the Tendo yard, with some help from Mousse.
Ryouga had been the one who was supposed to help him, but, as usual, the Lost Boy had lived up to his nickname and vanished somewhere along the way.
All of which lead to a city in the desert and Ranma facing off against a trio of bad guys.
