“I really should get some lunch,” Ranma decided.
"But of course, Darling. How shall I prepare it for you?" Kodachi materialized on the nearest fencepost, wearing her usual school uniform.
Just knowing that any second now she was about to change into that leotard in a swirl of black rose petals and do something stupid, Ranma didn't give her any chance. Lunging towards her, he appeared inside of her personal space and delivered an almost delicate smack upside her head.
There was a thud and a walrus sized and shaped mass of rotting vegetation plopped out and fell down to street level, shaking itself before focusing up on them with a dozen pair of eyestalks.
Having expected this, as soon as the greasy vegetable rot hit pavement Ranma came following after, arrowing down in a perfect flying kick. His foot came down upon the monster in a devastating blow... that passed right through the creature to impact on and shatter the concrete underneath.
Two follow up punches and one flung garbage can also failed to have any effect, passing right through the stupid.
Kodachi was still blinking atop the fencepost, having to quickly rearrange her mental landscape, accounting for the absence of one of the larger terrain features. The creature wasn't having anywhere near the same problem. So while the Kuno daughter was trying to reboot her thought processes after a hard crash the stinky, foul mess of monster gathered itself and sprang into the air towards her, colliding with the gymnast and passing into her body like water reentering a sponge from which it had been wrung.
Although Ranma was right there, delivering an almost gentle tap to her head an instant later and knocking it right back out again.
"Heh, it looks bigger this time," Ranma decided as the mass of stupid once more hit the crater he'd blown in the street, trying to hit it earlier. All of its eyestalks oriented on him as another large flung object phased through it without doing it any harm.
"Faster, too," the teenage martial arts legend judged as he dodged the stupid's counterattack, jumping away with Kodachi cradled carefully in his arms. After all, if returning to her once had made it bigger and faster already, the monster didn't need any more advantages.
Glancing at her face revealed Kodachi was still busy doing a hard reboot of her crashed mental processes. Ranma gave himself permission to guess that getting hit with a stupid and having that reintegrate while the rest of your mind was kinda busy like that might have been why it came back stronger the second time.
It was only a guess, of course. But he was pretty good about tactical evaluations in combat.
Like the fact that his instincts were screaming that only Kodachi herself could defeat her own stupid. Ranma was not generally into anything so girly as poetry, so he'd never call it poetic. Still, he had to admit to a certain justice to the fact that, while he could apparently knock the stupid out of anyone, in order for it to be really gone they apparently had to defeat it themselves.
Overcoming your own limitations was a concept he was deeply familiar with.
