His first stop was to a temple where he requested his karma be cleansed.
He. Had. Had. It. (follow with as many exclamation points as necessary.)
This last blow up had started with, no surprise, food. Akane had made a tuna casserole. While her curry was beginning to approach levels of toxicity that might make less of a candidate for a good chemotherapy drug, her other food preparation was less acceptable.
There was also the problem of a rumored new fiancee, Ryoga's new special manuever to once and for all have vengeance upon Ranma, Pantyhose Tarou chasing Happosai overhead with a set of bras and panties landing on Ranma, Akane going damn near superorbital as she recognized Yuka and Sayuri's lingerie draped over him, and a resulting war of words.
That, more than the mallet flight, had gotten Ranma to break ties with his past and stand on his own two feet.
He was Japanese. Senior High School was not a requirement. Many middle school Japanese went into the family business after graduation and never made it to high school.
The conversation, especially certain comments by Akane, echoed in his head as he sat in the temple and contemplated his next move.
Akane: "Before you came, my life was wonderful! Now I'm in constant hell!"
Ranma: "So if I left you'd be happy?"
Akane: "If you left, I'd dance for joy!"
and then there'd been:
Akane: "You're always causing problems, Ranma! It's your fault! You've never resolved one problem in your life have you? Just brought them around and thrown me into them!"
which had been followed almost inevitably by:
Akane: "I wish you'd go, Ranma! I wish I'd never heard of you! You make me sick! As far as I'm concerned this engagement never happened! I hate you! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU!"
Ranma jangled the bells and clapped his hands three times. The problem was he had absolutely no clue where to go or what to do. If only the heavens would give him a sign.
