Mischief Fragment Shippuden: Raywing [Episode 253849]

by Kestral

"Raywing," said Jiraiya, making a gesture.

Naruto repeated the odd word.

Then they both flew off, rapidly gaining in speed as they skimmed along the treetops.

Hinata, with her Byakugan, saw. "Na-Na-Naruto-kun?!"

Kiba rolled his eyes as Hinata abruptly went weak in the knees. "He's back? Suppose he actually learned anything?"

Hinata pointed, with her hand making a visible arc.

"Huh? What?" asked Kiba, looking in that direction.

"He's flying," said Hinata, looking distinctly woozy.

"Oh? Well, as long as the idjit's learned something," said Kiba, losing interest. "What about those bandits?"

"It looks like they were blown up," said Hinata, forcibly yanking her attention away from the now-distant Naruto to the task at hand.

"Blown up?" asked Kiba. "Explosive tags or something?"

Jiraiya pulled up short with the village in sight. "Been awhile."

"No kidding," said Naruto, hovering nearby.

"Remember, no mass-destruction spells," said Jiraiya. "Keep the nastiest stuff in reserve."

"It's not like I want to throw out a Dragon Slave in town," said Naruto.

"How many times did you get into a 'blow stuff up' contest with Lina?" asked Jiraiya.

"Not that often," protested Naruto.

Jiraiya simply looked at his student.

"Once or twice," tried Naruto.

Jiraiya raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, a few times," admitted Naruto.

"Oh, and you always managed to put down the bad guy, but look at what happened to the towns," pointed out Jiraiya. "Also villages, cities, ships, farms, forts, guardposts..."

"I'll keep it low-key," said Naruto.

"Good, then we will WALK into the village," said Jiraiya. "Keep from showing off too much at least at first."

Jiraiya knew his clothes had changed since he had left, also his style to some extent. The first hadn't been a choice as his usual outfit had gotten blown up. Repeatedly. Including the spare changes of outfit he'd had back.

So he'd chosen clothing that had fit into the culture he'd been in at the time, which was the Holy Kingdom of Saillune.

So he had a billowing cloak, dark red shirt and pants, thick boots, and his sword of course.

Thick leather bracers and a matching belt completed the look, which was sufficiently exotic by local standards to draw a few looks as they walked into the village.

"It's not like I could cast a Dragon Slave anyway..." complained Naruto. "It always came out different."

"True, the mazoku and their lords aren't present in our world, much as Lina's sister indicated might be the case," admitted Jiraiya. "That doesn't mean the weapons and lower level stuff won't work. As you amply demonstrated with that Fireball. AND, of course, there's your work-around."

"So your shaman spells will work?" asked Naruto.

"They seemed to work just fine in that bandit camp," said Jiraiya. "Need a chance to try out some of the higher level stuff though. Using a Ra-Tilt against one of those bandits would have been using a harpoon to catch a minnow."

"Yeah," agreed Naruto. "Hang on."

Jiraiya watched as Naruto ran up the telephone pole. "So much energy."
