Mischief Fragment - Befriended: Trick of Fate [Episode 254191]

by Thrythlind

"This is troublesome," a figure that looked like Teana Lanster appeared out of thin air in a corner of a Tokyo street alongside four others.

"It's just a disguise," a fake Fate noted, shrugging.

"Hey, the both of you, get into character!" a Nanoha snapped, followed by the bark of what looked like Arf's puppy form.

"Fate-Mama and Mama are acting very strangely," the smallest, what looked like Vivio, noted with a pouty expression. "And so is Teana."

The three seemingly older people shared an uncomfortable look for a moment before glancing back at the apparent child. Choji, as Fate, imagined Asuma in his right appearance acting like Vivio. Shikamaru wondered how long Asuma could go without smoking a cigarette. Kiba just wanted to get on with the mission so they could get out of these disguises.

It wasn't like they could approach their targets disguised as the people their targets were trying to avoid.

"Let's go!" Asuma-Vivio declared cheerfully, pulling on Nanoha-Kiba's and Fate-Choji's arms.

"Ooo, let's try some Korean barbecue!" Fate suggested enthusiastically.

"Silly Mama, we have to go see grandma and grandpa first," Asuma as Vivio declared with a smile. The Takamichi's had been contacted ahead about the deception, and it would look odd if they didn't go straight there.

Assuming they were being watched, that is.

Looking around, and further into the city, Asuma was reminded of Amegakure's towering and dreary cities. He could see the friendly faces around, however, and the casual way people walked in this community near the heart of the city. The feeling was very different, lacking the oppressive feel of the constant rain and the sequence of very dangerous and egotistical people that had ruled Amegakure over the last few decades.

It wasn't as heavily advanced in tech as the city on the world they had come from, but the devices around him were certainly more common than they were in his own world. Internal combustion engines were common enough to be used as a normal method of transportation. Comparatively, there weren't that many such engines in use back on his own world. Mostly just on some small boats, in fact.

He pulled his disguised genin around a corner and almost ran smack into a tall blonde woman alongside a woman with purple hair.

"Nanoha! Fate!" the purple-haired woman declared in happy surprise. "What are you doing here?"

"Weren't you working on some case?" the blonde asked pointedly, looking toward Fate.

"We're just visiting," Kiba tried, smiling as Nanoha-like as he could manage. "I didn't realize you'd be here."

"Oh, college is on break," the purple haired girl said. "So Arisa and I decided to come back home for a bit. Wow, Vivio is getting so big, do you remember your Auntie Suzuka?"

"Oh, of course I do!" "Vivio" declared happily.

"Oh let's go out for a bite to eat," Suzuka said. "Just ...all of us. Oh, hello, have we met?" She said the last looking toward Teana.

"I'm just one of Enforcer Harlaown's subordinates," Shikamaru, disguised as Teana, said sourly.

"Oh, I remember you," Suzuka commented. "Miss Lanster."

"Enforcer Lanster," Shikamaru corrected.

"Oh, right," Suzuka said. "Sorry about that."

"Huh, I thought you mellowed after that other girl and you finally got together," Arisa commented with an arched eyebrow.

Asuma, as Vivio, covered a frustrated sigh with a girlish giggle. He had a feeling this wasn't in the original plan that their clients had come up with.
