"What?" asked Jiraiya, expecting it to be something trivial.
"Just how strong are you two?" asked Tsunade.
"Strong!" declared Naruto. "I managed to kick around a demon prince!"
"Spopovich was powerful, but not a demon prince. Possessed and empowered by a wizard," said Jiraiya.
"Not him," countered Naruto. "Yakon."
"Well, to some definitions, maybe," allowed Jiraiya.
"I tore off one of his arm claws and jammed it down his throat while he was trying to eat me," said Naruto. "What about Dabura then?"
"Yeah, he qualifies, but you didn't beat him," said Jiraiya.
"Enough," declared Tsunade. "More references I don't understand. I want to see how much power you've actually got."
"I'd advise against that," said Jiraiya.
"Tough, you're one of those who dragged me back to this village to take this job," said Tsunade.
"At the very least, we need to do this somewhere that doesn't have as many fragile objects around," replied Jiraiya. He knew better than to argue with Tsunade when she was in THIS kind of mood.
"Wow, this place," said Naruto, looking it over.
"Hinata, I want you to monitor Naruto and report to me on his chakra levels," said Tsunade. "Since the Byakugan can see chakra, I'm counting on you to be able to judge this."
"Right," said Hinata, nodding to indicate she understood.
"And if you faint again, I'll come up with a punishment and training to get you over such foolishness," warned Tsunade.
"Eep," indicated Hinata.
"Eh, let's go then," said Naruto, anxious. He took a wide stance with his legs, brought his elbows in close to his waist with his fists clenched and forearms at about a forty-five degree angle to the rest of his body.
"Now would be a good time," began Tsunade.
FWUM! went a distortion in the air around Naruto.
Little pieces of rock began lifting from the ground around Naruto.
"There's a diffuse cloud of chakra surrounding him, and I can no longer see his tenketsu. He's now a solid body of chakra," reported Hinata with her Byakugan going full force. "Muscle mass increased by approximately 25%, muscle density is maybe 50% greater."
"Is it like the Akimichi techniques?" wondered Shizune aloud.
"That's just an enhanced state," said Jiraiya. "He's simply not holding in his power level. Go ahead."
"Are you sure?" asked Naruto. "You've been saying not to."
"As she pointed out, she's the Hokage, and this WAS a direct order," explained Jiraiya.
"Okay," said Naruto. "Sage mode."
"He's drawing in energy from around him, power level increasing," said Hinata, who abruptly dropped her technique. "I can't see anything further, it's too difficult to see anything there."
FWAM! went a visible radiance around Naruto as his hair went even spikier than normal. "Super Sage Mode!"
Karin stopped what she was doing, turning and staring. "WHAT THE HELL?!"
"What the hell what?" asked Suigetsu.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN KONOHAGAKURE?!" supplied Karin.
"Isn't Konoha outside your usual range?" noted Suigetsu.
"Shut up you! You're going to be transferred out to another lab where you'll be exterminated like any other lab rat," said Karin to the tube-imprisoned water nin. "It IS outside my range. Someone just flared up enough chakra I can feel it here!"
"Eh, your sensor abilities are more likely on the fritz," said Suigetsu. "Can I get a sandwich at least if you're gonna go hauling me off?"
"No," answered Karin, flipping a switch that put a couple of hundred volts through the tube;.
Suigetsu shook himself after a few seconds, glaring at the doorway. "Whoever said 'it wouldn't hurt to ask' never met THAT witch."
Lord Pein looked off into the distance, all of his various bodies orienting on the same direction.
Konan frowned and also looked off that way alongside one of those bodies.
Tobi looked up as he felt a tremor in the ground and tried to identify the odd feeling in the air.
Deidara nearly choked to death on a brussel sprout.
Chakra sensors went off across the Elemental Countries. Most of whom only identified it as a monstrous chakra.
Tsunade was NOT a sensor-type. She was very experienced with chakra, had a number of jutsu which allowed her to check things like chakra pathways or manipulate them, and could guess a great deal based on her experience in battle with other ninja.
Both Naruto and Jiraiya had been giving off a number of cues that had said they had been in battle, both together and seperately. Both were giving off cues that told her that they had BOTH come back stronger for their experiences.
She didn't need to be a sensor when the wind was blowing away from Naruto in all directions, whipping the foliage around them as if a storm was fast approaching. She didn't need to be a sensor to see the ground crater underneath Naruto with the rocks actually disintegrating as they flew up into the air. She didn't need to be a sensor to tell that the Inuzuka hounds were howling in the distance, that the insect swarms of the Aburame compound were agitated, and that the Hyuga were probably activating their bloodline and then shutting them down.
Apparently, this had not been one of her better ideas. Especially since, as far as she could tell, Naruto was STILL pulling out and increasing his power level.
"Super Sage Mode Two," said the longer-haired, heavily muscled, glowing with little lightning bolts surrounding him, version of Naruto who was hovering six inches above the crater he'd made.
"Takes him awhile to get there," said Tsunade, trying to put all this in perspective.
"No, he was just being dramatic," said Jiraiya, who then went straight to Super Sage Mode Two himself, blowing all three kunoichi backwards in the burst of chakra surrounding him.
"Konan," said Lord Pein.
"I sense it too, Nagato," said Konan.
"We may need to... adjust our plans," stated Lord Pein.
