There was only darkness then pain registered as he slowly regained consciousness. He opened his eyes and groaned as the light hurt his brain. He waited a few seconds to gather his wits back and let the worst of the pain and discomfort pass.
"Hey, are you all right?" A male voice. Whoever that was, he didn't know him.
Ranma stood up awkwardly, wincing in pain. He realized he had been laying in a fresh crater, in concrete no less! Who or what could have hurt him so badly to provoke this kind of impact on the pavement.
"Easy there... You're hurt pretty badly" The male voice had returned and Ranma felt someone help him up "What's your name?"
Ranma opened his mouth to answer. Then he closed it. He opened it again but no words came out "I... I don't remember..." Panic began to grip his being "Why can't I remember?"
"Whoa, you must have hit your head really bad to become amnesiac. Come on, I'll get you to a doctor"
Ranma got a good look at the young man who was helping him "Thanks..."
"No problem!" His good samaritan smiled "By the way, my name is..."
