Kodachi was somewhat more than miserable as she sat huddled with her friends among the few attending Slytherins. The rain was more than merely heavy. It was torrential. Kodachi had faced such heavy rain before in Japan, of course, but she usually remained inside at such times.
"Who has the quaffle?" Karen asked in a loud shouting voice.
"I have no idea!" Kodachi yelled. "I can barely distinguish the teams!"
It was a very fast-paced ferocious game, made more so by the storm. And then, suddenly, two of the players zipped off in one direction.
"That most be Potter and Diggory!" Karen yelled.
"Ohhh," Melody sighed. "I wish it weren't raining so. Cedric is so dreamy!"
"Do you see the..." Kodachi stopped as she noticed something in the stands. "How'd Whuffles get all the way up there?"
"They almost got it! They almost got it!" Melody said.
"Who?" Karen demanded. "Wait a minute...is the ground..."
And then Kodachi's mind was filled with a drowning, sinking as if all the warmth, light and sound were pulled away. She could, at first barely hear Melody and Karen's frightened screaming. But then her mind was filled with the sound of her brother's voice commanding her behavior and actions, and punishing her.
And there was something else on the edge. A woman's scream and a curious sucking sound.
The next thing she knew she was being helped up, shivering and practically insensate as her friends told her, shouting over the rain, the dementors were being driven away and that everything was okay now.
She didn't really feel safe until after a great deal of chocolate, hot drink and candy bars, had been given her and she was safe and sound in her own bed in the Slytherin house quarters.
It was after many sleepless hours that she finally asked herself just what that screaming woman and the sucking sound on the edge of her own hallucination were.
