"WAGH!"
Naruto looked up at where Sakura was now hanging from a tree branch. "Nice jump."
"How?" asked Sakura.
"Sasuke and I were expecting something like this actually," said Naruto.
"Oh," said Sakura, letting go of the branch and dropping back down to ground level.
"This book won't do you any good, and it has traps in it," said Naruto, picking up his book. "We came up with something else though."
"'We'? You mean Sasuke...?" asked Sakura, coloring slightly at the thought that Sasuke was concerned for her.
"Something like that, more or less," indicated Naruto, reaching into a jacket pocket and pulling out a scroll. "We thought maybe you were feeling kind of useless and came up with this as an alternative."
"You and Sasuke were discussing me while I was away?" asked Sakura as she took the scroll.
"Actually we discussed it while you were unconscious after having smashed your face into a door," said Naruto. "Anyway, we've acquired quite a few odds and ends while we were putting various ghosts and entities to rest. One of them might be up your alley."
Sakura bit her lower lip as she unfurled the scroll just a bit to see what was on it.
Sakura went home, ate dinner with her parents, and then settled down with the scroll and began to study.
Ofuda, also known as shinpu, are area protective talismans made by the representative of a shrine or temple. Omamori are personal and portable versions of the same thing.
Sakura nodded to herself. Unfortunately there were no shrines or temples within the village... or were there?
Onmyodo is the art of performing such without access to a temple. One merely needs a circle purified from outside influence, and the materials of brush and ink and paper, and the method of creating such a circle follows.
Sakura smiled as she read on. She considered studying and memorization to be her premiere skills within the group, and this sort of thing looked perfect for her.
