One of the Academy students has developed a means of summoning young girls from alternate universes, providing that they are willing and will be friendly to him.
The enclosed photos are of four of those individuals whom I was able to get pictures of. Further information will follow.
Orochimaru grinned. An Academy student? Someone who hadn't even made genin yet? It had to be Sasuke Uchiha. No one else of note in that dull little village.
The first photo was of a girl in an off-the-shoulder kimono top, with white hair and dark reddish eyes. That hair reached down past her hips, where it appeared that instead of legs she had the body of a white serpent that added quite a bit of length to her. At least three quarters of that body resembled a snake.
The second photo was of a similar snake-woman, though this one had purple hair, and her forearms were heavily scaled and ended in outsized claws. She also had yellow eyes and brass horns.
Third was a young girl with dark skin, white hair, red eyes, and long tapered ears.
The fourth photo was a group shot. The white snake-girl of the first photograph was arguing with a girl of similar age, but who bore a pair of cat ears and a tail. In the background was some sort of brown-skinned rabbit-eared girl and a point-eared pale-skinned blonde girl.
"My, my, Sarutobi. What have you been playing with?"
"So, if we're to be Naruto's fanclub, what are we to call ourselves?" asked a dark elf, flipping through a book.
"Why do we need to call ourselves anything?" asked an elf.
"To further distinguish ourselves from the girls who hang around that Uchiha boy," said the dark elf without looking up.
"That does sound worthwhile," reluctantly admitted the elf, who'd found herself in argument enough with some members of that group. "What is that you're reading, anyway?"
"Naruto was experimenting with trying to summon equipment and possessions of ours from across the boundaries," said the dark elf. "One of the things he got were several crates of items from a 'forest of books' place."
The elf made an interested noise, as a 'forest of books' sounded quite interesting to her.
"It says here, in the letters column," said a lamia who was reading one of the books, "that a group of women associated with a single male is called a 'harem.'"
"Doesn't that mean something entirely different?" asked Ryuuko.
"Nay, ojou-san," said Shiroko, bowing low within her coils in apology for correcting her mistress. "That is an older term, while this is the new usage. Not that Naruto could actually do anything with the older usage of the term as he is entirely too young for such considerations."
"I kinda like the term," said the dark elf, not adding that she thought it might be fun once everyone was of a proper age.
"Why do I sense that you have another motivation?" asked the elf.
"Just imagine how it will torque the shorts of various detractors of Lord Naruto to hear of it," said the dark elf, glancing up with a smirk.
"Besides, it sets out that we're more cooperative than Sasuke's group, which is all about competing against each other," said the lamia. "Not that rivals can't be useful, but the constant badgering and name-calling among Sasuke's group gets a bit personal and heated."
"Not to mention loud," said Ryuuko, considering.
"You wanted to see me?" asked Jiraiya, leaning up against a wall near an open window.
"Yes, have you heard the latest development?" asked Sarutobi Hiruzen, Third Hokage.
"No, I was out of town and will return there shortly," responded Jiraiya.
"Naruto has a harem."
Jiraiya paused, considered, pondered. "He's twelve."
"Yes."
"With a harem."
"That's at least what they're calling themselves," admitted the Hokage.
Jiraiya considered. "I bet that went over well with certain people."
"I'm told Danzo Shimura clutched his heart and collapsed right in the middle of the meeting with the councillors," said the Hokage.
"Damn. Wish I could have seen that," said Jiraiya wistfully. "Still, a harem."
"Actually it's a group of girls who all like Naruto and cooperate to help him and each other out," said the Hokage, blowing out a set of connected smoke rings.
"At age twelve? When he, and they, get past puberty that situation will have to be monitored," said Jiraiya. Not only for inspiration for his novels, but the possibility of things turning violent between the members couldn't be overlooked either.
"That is true," said the Hokage, thinking more of property damage, fires, explosions, and general destruction than anything else.
"Team sorting is coming up, isn't it?" asked Jiraiya.
"Yes, the genin exams are coming up next week," said the Hokage.
"I'll try to swing by then," said Jiraiya's shadow clone before dismissing himself.
