Kasumi hummed, as the shell of the Pheonix Egg encased Ranma began to golw softly blue. "Now Ranma," she told the spirit waiting to be born, "the spirits that told me of you stated that when you picked up the Nyannichuan curse, it caused your rebirth form to become female."
She listened to the spirit as the shell's light became stronger and deeper blue. "I know that, Ranma," she responded. "But that is the way it is. You are being reborn with a great gift, so there is always a downside." She paused. "Well, yes; how many times has that thought been proven wrong?" A giggle escaped her. "The other spirits told me that the heat of the fire determines your coloration. By using gas heat, you get blue plumage."
She winced. "Yes, Ranma," she sighed, as the egg began to rock violently, the deep blue glow too intense to look at directly. "Plumange."
The egg shattered depositing on the floor.
