Had it really only been a single day since she had made these big claims before Zerbst? Yesterday she had told her oldest rival how she would beat her. She had said that she would summon something much better then Kirche.
Then that tramp had actually managed to summon a salamander from the Fire Mountains. When it was finally her time, she was horribly nervous. After all, every spell she ever attempted always ended in an explosion.
Still, she would rather die then show her fears and worries. So she had gathered every speck of knowledge about the summoning ritual she could. There must not be any mistake. No failure was allowed. She had to be perfect and erase any chance of a backfire.
Her heart had pounded and her 'schoolmates' had acted like the pricks they were. Truly, she had actually expected everything to go pretty normal.
Then, everything had gone to hell. Oh! She had certainly summoned an impressive familiar. The dragon, or at least she believed the creature to be a dragon, was around the same size as Tabithas Sylphid.
Sure, the creature looked quite... curious in some aspects, but she would not say anything bad about her summon. Sadly the dragon had been summoned in the middle of a fight and its opponent had also come.
She did not even consider the possibility that the abomination was actually her potential familiar. No! That was absolutely impossible. Louise had already trouble just looking at the thing without throwing up. She had no idea how Professor Colbert could fight like this.
Her hand squeezed the wand she was holding and her knuckles had already turned white. This was unforgivable! Her familiar was fighting this thing and what was she doing? She was standing back and let others do the work.
Louise Francoise Le Blanc de La Valliere was many things, prideful, a noble of the best stock, one of the most intelligent students in the academy and incredibly stubborn. There was one thing she was surely not and that was a coward. It was not her fault that the existence known as the Slender Man created nausea in anyone looking at him. That did not mean she would allow this disgrace to continue.
With determined eyes stepped forward, one step after another, just a bit more. It took most of her willpower to ignore the feeling of wrongness that was emanating from the Slender Man, but finally she pointed her wand at the target.
Tentacles moved around the Pale One and were grappling, slicing and pounding on anything that appeared like an enemy. Jean Colbert had used his fire magic to create a wall of flames because the thing had tried to catch students a couple of times.
The wall was not actually big, but allowed for immediate spell casting in the area. This made it almost impossible for his opponent to flee. Unfortunately the thing had learned fast and was now concentrated on both Colbert and the Dragon.
To say the truth, Colbert was not sure what to think of his partner in arms. The future familiar was strong, fast, and vicious and its breath weapon was unique. If he had not been in a fight, he would have loved to learn more about this dragon. On the other hand, there were times when the reptile acted almost clumsy. At some times it felt like the creature had absolutely no idea how to use its limbs.
Still, the dragon had proven to be a valuable ally. Its ability to exhale sand and its great physical strength gave the mage more then enough time for spell casting. What truly vexed him was his opponent.
Even he, a veteran fighter with more experience in battle then he would have liked, was having serious trouble controlling his disgust. He could not call it anything else. It was like nothing he had ever experienced. He wondered if this was a natural weapon of the creature.
The Slender Man had been hit numerous times. There were small wounds all over its body. The monster did not have a human intellect, but it still understood that it was loosing. That was not a problem. It did not exist in the same dimension as a human.
He would have to hold a low profile, but the Slender Man could reform his body given enough time. Slowly the White King rose to its full height, but was suddenly alerted by something. A thing like the Slender Man couldn't perceive its surroundings like a human, but it could still feel the ridiculous amount of energy that was gathered.
In a movement that defied the laws of physic and common sense the abomination turned its body without moving. Colbert and Duran were both slightly confused as their minds tried to comprehend this impossible feat. Yet both turned to look in the same direction as the abomination. The Professors eyes widened in surprise at what he saw. Duran for his part was only wondering what a child was doing in the middle of a fight. Wait, was the girl chanting?
"Fireball!" Was heard loudly all over the clearing.
Duran was a brown dragon and a wizard of limited skill, but foremost a dragon. His species had an innate understanding of magic. When a loud explosion and smoke cloud hit the abomination, he could feel more then everyone else.
It was like an absence of everything. It felt like something was devouring the very magic in the air. He shuddered at the feeling.
When the smoke disappeared fully, the Professor opened his mouth for another spell, only to see the Slender Man running away with inhuman speed.
The mage cursed. His opponent was already over the castle walls. At least it looked like the thing had lost a couple of its arms from the last attack.
He turned to his ally, but saw that the dragon was already loosing consciousness. Colbert blinked as he took in the wounds of the reptile. The future familiar was bleeding badly from countless wounds of varying size. Now that he was actually looking more closely, Jean was impressed the dragon had managed to remain standing this long.
He turned to a certain pink haired mage. The young girl was looking dazed and confused. That was to be expected, but there was something more important right now.
"Miss Valliere!" His voice had a certain edge and managed to snap Louise out of her stupor. "If you could please come over here and complete the ritual, your familiar needs medical attention."
