"Yes," said the brightly smiling girl.
There was a sudden temptation to go running off screaming.
"Hey, Bell, have you seen the... oh. Ranma Saotome's here? Is it Tuesday already?" A tanned woman with platinum hair checked her watch. "Oh well. Let's see you're still here, so you've already reached the first decision. Do you want to wait the three days and get that Jusenkyo curse cured? Are you going to go running back to the comfortable familiarity of being a physical and emotional punching bag? Or are you going to go off and sulk some more?"
"Uhm, 'A'?" Ranma said, disliking how this felt like a test.
"Good choice," said the tanned woman. "First off, this is Belldandy. I'm Urd. The little brat with the hammer you'll see soon is Skuld. We're three sisters here in Tokyo. You probably met Keiichi."
"How do you know..." began Ranma.
"Father told us you'd be by, but we can't help you or anything unless you cut ties with your old school. Other than it has to do with some sort of deal Happosai made with a demon years ago, I don't know the details. We're goddesses by the way. Norns. Except for Keiichi, of course."
"..." Ranma saw a robot walking by in the background and was momentarily distracted.
A young girl with a hammer walked up. "Belldandy, do you know... oh. Saotome's here? Dang, is it Tuesday already?"
"Skuld, did Father mention why we had to leave the Anything Goes school alone?" Urd asked the newcomer.
"Some kind of deal with a demon made by some guy named Happosai. In return, the practitioners sow chaos and suffering in their path or something," said Skuld. "Belldandy have you seen my latest manga?"
"Peorth was by earlier," explained Urd.
"Rrrrrrr," growled Skuld, now stalking off.
Ranma slowly made sense of the comments. It was all Happosai's fault? That was... kinda nice. It wasn't his fault.
"Well, I'm glad you showed up," said Urd. "Now let's..."
"Wait a second," said Ranma, a gleam in his eyes. "You can't help me unless I renounce the Anything Goes School?"
"That doesn't mean giving up martial arts," explained Urd. "It just means that you have to break ties with your past. Especially Happosai."
Ranma considered this briefly.
