As he had not even the faintest clue as to what was going on, Ranma simply followed the rest of the girls into the new private locker room that the two weird butlers had shown them. All in all, he was just happy that Sue and Jane hadn’t gone nuclear when Ayane did her little Amazon greeting. So rather than start asking questions about that, he was happy to just keep his mouth shut and move along while hoping the girls just forgot about it in the confusion.
Right after the door closed behind her, Debra whirled on the long thought extinct cousins of her species and frowned. “Okay, you two, talk, now.”
Jeeves cleared his throat rubbed his hands together. “Yes well where to begin?”
“How about where the extinct species has three of its members running around in a pseudo-gladiatorial arena where one of them wears skimpy outfits and battles for the cheers and favor of lesser beings?” Jane asked.
Ranma blinked and raised his hand. “Ummm, isn’t that what I’m doing?”
Sue turned to look at him. “Hush dear.”
With the interruption taken care of, Jarvis took over the explanation. “About that, I trust the four of you know the usual amount of knowledge the dragons have about our kind?”
“Yes,” the women said as one.
“N-ow! I mean, yes,” Ranma lied after getting cut off with a slap to the back of his head from Jane along with a warning glare.
Jeeves nodded. “Very well. Okay, as all dragons know, the psions were supposed to be wiped out during the great rebellion in which our two races joined forces to turn the world dominating saurian race into the shell of what it is today, and during our last battle against Gigliathon, our people broke the psychic control chains long enough to commit suicide rather than be used against the dragons.
“However, what wasn’t widely known was that there were a few survivors of that battle in terms of our race, Jarvis, myself, and young Princess Ayane. Now, while Jarvis and myself were able to survive thanks to…special circumstances, Ayane was unaffected by Gigliathon’s psychic venom because she was too immature to have developed any psychic abilities.”
As Jeeves stopped to take a breath, Jarvis took up the explanation. “However, the psychic venom remained in the air long after the battle, or even the war was over. We even calculated that it would still be there by the time Ayane was old enough to develop her abilities, and thus, become as warped and twisted as the other psions under its effects.
“So, we asked the creature Merlin if there was anything he could do for her. The answer was for the girl to be placed in stasis until the effect had dissipated and she could walk the Earth without having to fear for her life.”
Debra frowned. “Okay…so why now, and for that matter, why is she…well, here of all places.” If the girl was truly the last psion she belonged in Jade Realm’s aviary, the home for the dragon brood. While not a dragon herself, she deserved a place in the highest honors for being one of the people that had experienced the great war.
“Wait a second,” Ranma spoke up as a thought occurred to him. “When I talk to Ayane in Japan…well, she doesn’t really act like some prehistoric princess.” If these guys were some ancient dragon ally, then they got none of the attitude that seemed to come with the scales. “Does she even know what she is?”
Jarvis cleared his throat and looked away from the male dragon. “No…and we thank you for not telling her during your initial encounter. It’s one of the reasons we try to avoid dragons. You people recognize her on sight.”
“Told you we should have gone to Japan with her,” Jeeves grumbled. “We were just lucky enough to detect these four in her locker room before anything bad happened.”
“You mean to tell me she doesn’t even know who or what she is?” Debra demanded.
Jeeves sighed and looked over to the dragon. “How would you feel if you awoke one day to find yourself the last of your kind? The rest of the world would consider you an outcast or a freak at best, and a science project to be dissected at worst.”
“So we took steps to hide Ayane’s identity, even from herself,” Jarvis continued; not bothering to mention that a few of her abilities did leek through every now and then as was the case with people who met her eye to eye. “We sealed her psionic powers and asked Exaltion to help us hide her appearance.”
Jane spoke up, her face twisted in confusion. “Wait, that old whyrm knows you guys are here?”
“Yes, as well as his…personal assistant, Montgomery,” Jeeves replied. “He comes by to check up on Ms Ayane every now and then…and I suppose you can blame him for getting her interested in the UFF.”
Debra took a deep breath and then slowly exhaled to calm herself. “Okay well…I suppose as long as grandfather knows what’s going on, I’ll abide by his judgment and let things continue as they are. Still think she should be in the aviary instead of wandering about Earth Realm in that outfit of hers.” She grit her teeth at the memory of when Xane was caught watching a PPV UFF match on her monitor and the skimpy thing that Debra remembered Ayane prancing around in.
The offhand comment had Jarvis look up and over to the male dragon sitting in the corner. “That reminds me Mr Ranma,” the butler said as he reached into his coat to pull out a wrapped package. “Ms Ayane had us pick this up for you. She said it would help cultivate the proper sage presence for selling tickets.”
The changing direction of the conversation caught Ranma off guard, so he didn’t react until he had already unwrapped the gift and was staring at the piece of black clothing as he held it up in front of his face. “What are these…biker shorts?” he asked while testing the elasticity of the material.
Then he blinked and looked down at the empty package. “Wait, where’s the rest of it? Ayane can‘t seriously expect me to walk out there-”
“Do not question the wisdom and experience of our ancient cousin, husband,” Jane told him.
“Now take off your clothes and put on the skin-tight gladiatorial costume,” Sue ordered as she grabbed Ranma’s new pants and held them up in a threatening way.
“And we’ll need you to select some entrance music for when its your time to enter the ring,” Jeeves added.
“Oh, I can do that,” Sue said before ripping the boy’s current pants off his person before handing his new clothing to Jane and following the psion out of the room.
“Underwear too,” Jane said as she took over Ranma’s forced stripping. “Those pants are supposed to be skin tight, so we’re going to make sure thing’s getting in the way of showing off those sexy buns of yours.”
Ranma screamed as his other wife removed the last of his clothing, forcing him to cover himself with his bare hands. “What do you mean sexy? I thought you guys didn’t find humans attractive!”
“I’m adapting,” Jane told him with a frown.
Taking this as her cue to leave, Debra headed for the door. “Think I’m going to go buy a Mistress T-shit…or a poster.” Now that she knew about Ayane, Debra supposed it would be the dragon thing to do to show her support for the girl.
Well, the Earth Realm refined dragon thing to do. Jade Realm dragons would probably magically curse all her opponents, arrange for them to be taken out by a traffic accident, or simply launch an invasion into their homes and remove the opponents before they should ever even enter the ring with the woman. Then there were the real nasty dragons who became lawyers…Debra didn’t even want to know what they would do.
