In some ways it was flawed because none of those applying the Seal completely understood the nature of the Tailed Beasts. In other ways it was flawed because fuuinjutsu itself was more an Art than a Science or because the seals extended into angles that humans weren't able to perceive directly.
Toltiir didn't understand humans. Not completely. Whereas he was much more capable in other respects.
"Who are you and what are you doing?" rumbled the Kyuubi as something stood outside his cell and examined the room.
"Redecorating." answered the cat-shaped creature before it began unfolding in strange ways that made even the Kyubi's eyes hurt.
"You're freeing me? To ravage and pillage at will?" asked the Kyubi, ready to knock these walls down and go on a suitable rampage.
"No." The being shifted in midair, becoming a flower of glowing crystal that sunk vines into the pipes and walls around it. When it spoke next, the voice was more like the chiming of crystal bells and it came from everywhere.
The Kyubi took a step back from the cage wall as that changed, shifting to blood-red crystal which then slowly bled of color until it was clear.
"I'm using some design elements from Superman's 'Fortress of Solitude' in some depictions," noted the flower's voice. "Other elements are more in keeping with different concepts."
"What's the point?" growled the Kyubi, though a bit more grateful that the floor was no longer damp and the place looked a lot less dreary and boring.
"You get to see and hear more of what's going on outside your host's body," said the flower as the ceiling shifted to become transparent and showing a sky beyond it. "And he'll have more control and less toxic effects from using your chakra."
"Hmph. That it's a brighter prison doesn't make it less a prison," noted the Kyubi.
"If you're outside a wielder, you can be controlled by a Sharingan. If all the Tailed Beasts are outside a host, you can be recombined into THAT thing and there is someone actively planning that."
"Someone is either an idiot or is suicidal and wants lots of company," noted the Kyubi.
"There, finished. I will now activate Iron Cloak mode. Your chakra is directed into specific rune-sets which this mode makes use of to do specific things. This mode is essentially one-tail beast mode."
"Interesting," noted the Kyubi as it observed the complicated fuuinjutsu retract into several floating crystal shards. "What's it do?"
Naruto rose up into the air, a cloak of crimson energy forming around him. The kanji for [Armor] briefly flared onto his chest and he hovered there briefly as the armor formed around him.
"What the hell is THIS? Sharingan Kakashi?" asked Zabuza. "Other than an obvious target!"
Caught by surprise by events, Kakashi was a moment too slow to avoid Zabuza throwing his massive sword. It spun end over end in a deadly arc heading at high speed directly for the now-armored genin.
Who was in a blur of motion as he rose up over the sword and began arcing towards the swordless swordsman.
Zabuza wasn't concerned, the blade would be recovered in a moment and-
Twin beams of crimson erupted from the armored genin's hands and briefly linked him to Zabuza Momochi. Then Zabuza Momochi was collapsing with holes burned through both shoulders.
Before he collapsed though, the armored genin had arrived and hit him with enough force that the swordsman flew across the bridge and into a support on the other side. True to Tazuna's word regarding the strength of his bridge, the damage to the bridge was superficial.
"Naruto?" asked Kakashi.
A hand swung up, the palm pointed in a particular direction.
"Don't-" began Kakashi.
A concussive blast smashed mirrors of ice and sent the figure within one mirror to tumbling across the bridge.
"-hit Sasuke," finished Kakashi.
The armored figure met Kakashi's glance for a moment before the armor vanished and a gasping Naruto went to hands and knees. He wheezed and coughed and gulped air for a couple of minutes like that.
"We'll talk about this later," said Kakashi.
"Sasuke's alive..." gasped Naruto. "Just (gasp) in that same 'fake death' (wheeze) thing Zabuza (hack) got earlier."
"I see," said Kakashi. "Now, as to the cleanup."
