The three genin looked: proud, innocent, and still a bit confused. In the order he went down the line.
"Naruto?" asked Kakashi. "Does this have something to do with that teleport jutsu you developed?"
"Yeah! It's AWESOME!" proclaimed Naruto.
"'Teleport'?" asked Sasuke.
"I can teleport myself," bragged Naruto, "to anywhere I see or where I've got a fuuinjutsu mark. I can even bring others along but it takes a little longer."
"When he was trying it out, I was asked to be present to act as some sort of control," said Sakura. "Instead we all ended up going to a world called 'Chikyuu' where we got our pokemon! The Third Hokage has ruled it our first C-Rank Mission!"
Kakashi blinked. He'd heard some of that, but he'd gotten to a really interesting part of his book at the time. Apparently something HAD happened.
"We just got assigned to a team and you two have had a C-Rank mission on your files?" asked Sasuke, raising an eyebrow. It appeared they wouldn't be holding him back quite so much after all.
"That's where I got Pidgey!" stated Sakura, holding up the odd sphere she used to summon her bird.
"Jiji says we may get D-Rank missions to go after the ones that escaped," said Naruto. "How cool is that? We not only get a mission right away, but we get other missions that all kind of tie into it."
"Ah," said Kakashi. "Well, that's if you manage to pass the test tomorrow. Otherwise you all fail, go back to the Academy, and your mission record gets wiped clear."
Ah, the cries of genin in the morning. He really enjoyed that too much.
Sasuke would have went off to train by himself in preparation for the test tomorrow after their instructor left.
Instead he was looking at the two who had apparently gotten summons of some kind.
"Who else has these - creatures?" asked Sasuke finally.
"Ino has an Exeggcute," said Naruto, counting off on his fingers. "Jiji has a Chimchar. Hinata's got a Eevee."
"So - what do they do?" asked Sasuke.
"Pidgey can fly," noted Sakura. "So I was thinking messenger bird, also she has some attacks using wind-element."
"Vulpix can breathe fire, Riolu and Machop are both pretty strong and taijutsu users," said Naruto.
"Oh?" asked Sasuke, hoping their taijutsu was better than Naruto's. Seriously. Because Naruto's taijutsu sucked.
"Did you just say something?" asked Naruto.
"Not a word," said Sasuke.
"Oh. Riolu is also a sensor type!" remembered Naruto. "He can see emotions and stuff."
"What about Machop?" asked Sakura.
"He's physically a lot stronger," said Naruto. "We need any heavy lifting - he's the pokemon for the job."
"Hmmm," hmmmed Sasuke.
