Still, the way it had been told had left a mark on the small boy, and the man wasn't too fancinated by planes. If it hadn't been good for his job to take the overseas sales trips, then he would have much preferred to stay on the ground. But trips like this one made him the big bucks, and sea travel was too slow to be worth making the extra effort.
That left him flying from Japan back to America after yet another sales trip to the island nation. And since it was such a long way until they got to Atlanta, he was going to be definately bored for the hours of the flight. He could watch the entertainment, but there was only so much of the same thing that one could take.
So he idly looked out the window... and saw something out there?! Whatever it was, it was small, bald and DAMN ugly. Plus it was on the wings of an airplane thousands of feet in the air.
"Hey! Hey! Wake up!" Rob hissed as he nudged the sleeping form next to him.
"What is it?" muttered his fellow sales rep Joan Valentine.
"There's something on the wing!"
"Oh brother... First my dad, and now you. Listen, there's nothing on the damned wing."
"But I saw it!"
"And what does it look like?"
"Well... I can't see it right now..."
"See?"
"You know... ACK! I saw it! Out there on the wing! There's a troll out on the wing!"
As he watched, the creature looked indignant as it yelled what seemed to be, "I am NOT a troll, dammit!"
Joan gazed over her fellow employee to look and then slumped heavily in her seat. "That place in Tokyo was the last time I'm sharing a room with you."
"Come on..."
Out on the wing, Happosai sat heavily and sulked. It wasn't so bad to be on the wing like this, but it did have its share of troubles. Staying out too far meant that he would get all cold and the winds might blow him off. Getting close gave him some protection from the temperature and the gusts, but it left him too close to being seen. Not that he minded, but it led to all sorts of mean jokes about a poor old man. And that was not the worst part.
He couldn't get to the stewardesses! All those cute girls in their uniforms and the best that he could do was to watch them through the windows. So, he sat and took in what he could while he used his chi to help keep him warm. He did however, take comfort in the knowledge that the plane would soon be landing and then he'd have all the opportunity to fondle some cute girls then.
But until then, he had to wait, while:
