Lina, Gourry, and Naga were all quite relieved to reach the next inn. They were hungry, and sleeping on a bed was a definite attraction.
However, even Gourry became alert and uncomfortable when they entered the inn to find it nearly deserted. Only the staff remained, and they seemed frightened and wary. "Ah..ah.. You wouldn't happen to be Miss Lina Inverse, Mr. Gourry Gabriev, and Miss Gracia of Seyruun?" the apparent owner asked.
Naga raised an eyebrow at the name, but Lina just said, "Yes. Who wants to know?" She was confident they could get out of just about any situation.
"Um... yes... a... gentleman wishes to speak with the three of you, and has... arranged... for the entire use of our facilities to do so. If you would follow me?" the owner began walking to another room.
Cautiously, the others followed. Entering, they say the owner talking to a figure, and then running out to the kitchen as though his life depended on it. "The cooks are starting the meal now," the figure said in a deep voice, "We should be eating shortly." Then he stood up and turned around.
Naga examined the man appreciatively. He was very tall... the tallest man she'd ever seen, and had a real wild look about him. His hair was long and red, and he wore a large red trenchcoat. He was also carrying a sword that was longer than many people... and Naga suspected that he could use that sword with ease. Then she heard Lina gasp, and realized her companions had gotten ready to fight.
The man chuckled. "I see it's true. You do recognize me."
"What do you want?" Lina asked shortly.
Naga decided to interrupt. "Um... Lina... who is this?"
"Ah, forgive me, Gracia... or do you still prefer Naga?... I am Gaav."
NAga blinked. "As in Gaav, the Demon Dragon?"
Gaav, Lina, and even Gourry all nodded.
"Oh." Naga said in a small voice, and got ready to fight herself.
"If I wanted to fight you, I would have attacked already. No... I have a different reason for arranging this meeting."
Lina narrowed her eyes. "And what was that?"
Gaav shrugged, but kept his superior smirk in place. "I recently learned about a few things. About Shabranigdo, about Darkstar, about the Weapons of Light, and about Time Travel."
Lina's eyes nearly popped out of her head for a moment before she got herself under control. "We're listening."
Gaav waved them to the table. "Won't you join me? It would be a shame not to use the services here after going to all the trouble to arrange for our... privacy..."
