The Demon Blood Talismans.
"So... Gaav...." Lina began, with some hesitation. After all, in the original timeline, Gaav was to kill her because she was a pawn in Hellmaster's plans to kill Gaav and destroy the world. "Where did you hear about this?"
"One of my agents was following some associates of your, namely Princess Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun, Zelgadis Greywords, and most importantly, the Overworlder Shinzoku Sirius." The reaction on their faces further proved to him that what he has heard was true. "They recently met up with a Gold Dragon that you probably also know, Milgasia, and my agent overheard the resulting conversation."
Lina was internally berating herself. When she admitted to Phil that Alfred in league with the Mazoku in hopes of getting the throne, she assumed that Alfred didn't make contact yet. Apparently though Gaav had his sights on Seyruun for a while. "I see.... why did you then decided to send Mazenda, or is it Kanzeil, to follow my friends in the first place? Were they a possible obstacle to your goals in Seyruun, or you overheard that your nemesis Hellmaster had plans revolving around them?"
Gaav was suprised, but didn't show it. It did however filled in more details about these humans. She named two of his servants, refered to his plans for Seyruun, and summed up his feelings on Hellmaster. "I was originally interested in Zelgadis, when my agents in Seyruun spotted the princess examining his wanted poster. After all, the princess' white magic abilities increased dramatically without aid of any Mazoku pledge. Naturally I wanted to see this Zelgadis has any connection to her or her growth in power, and if Hellmaster had any connection to him."
"Hellmaster? What gave you that idea?"
"At the time, I had reason to believe that Rezo, the man who posted the bounty, was himself, connected to him in some form. But all this changed when you and your Shinzoku friend joined up with Zelgadis, followed by your arrival in Seyruun. By then our focus has shifted to the Shinzoku. It has to be something extrodinary for a god from another world to seek out people in this world."
"I see," Lina said with a sigh. She had desperately wanted to avoid confronting or be confronted by Mazoku until it came to the time to cast the final spell that required on. It looks like there's no way out now.
"Hold on a minute... you may have explained how you know of us.... but you have yet to explain your intentions," Naga interjected. "Why did you then wish to meet with us?" When Gaav gave an audible chuckle in response, she added, "What's so funny?"
"Well.... from what Mazenda heard, when Milgasia learned of the nature of the final spell, not only he volunteered himself to supply Celphied's power, he suggested that I should be recruited to supply Shabranigdo's power. I figured I should spare the trouble and volunteer myself."
The three humans were in shock for that announcement, and its implications. "Masaka.... you aren't...." Gourry remarked.
"I don't think he's joking around Gourry," Lina put in. "So... when you decided to volunteer.... did you go to them and they sent you to support me?"
"No Miss Inverse. I decided that it would be in my best interests to keep you alive since you apparently are the only one who can cast the spell that can defeat Dark Star."
"Hey...." Gourry exclaimed, "are you saying I can't protect..." Lina stopped him from saying more to prevent further embarrasment.
"I'm pretty sure you can protect her well, and," he answered, hoping to hold other other interjections, "that she herself can take of herself. I'm not arguing that."
"Then what are you implying, may I ask?" asked Naga. "Originally, I thought by your association with the Shinzoku you would eventually be targets by the other lords." With that he pointed to the Demon Blood Talismans. "But right now they are in an uproar about the loss of the Demon Blood Talismans. If they find out who stole them...."
"But I didn't steal them! I rightfully bought them from Xellos!" "Oh really?" Before the conversation could continue though, harried waiters came in with the food, providing a break to the conversation.
