Slayers RESET: Lina's Tough Decision [Episode 26879]

by Disruptor

After a subdued dinner, Gaav smirked as he looked at Lina.

"I would like to hear how you bought the talismans from Xellos."

Lina sighed, realizing that Gaav has probably already changed his plans. She told Gaav of what Mazenda did and how she browbeat Xellos into selling the talismans to her. Gaav chuckled a bit.

"So why was Xellos following you anyway?"

Lina answered, "It was part of Hellmaster's plans to flush you out. You got so busy thinking that he had some plans for us, he was able to take you by suprise when you were fighting us. He used you own obsession against you."

Gaav rapped his fingers on the table and thought for a bit.

Lina asked, "Gaav, I know you can go past the barrier. What are the Gold Dragons serving the Fire Dragon King doing?"

Gaav chuckled, as he replied, "They are in as big an uproar about something as the other Dark Lords are about the Talismans."

Lina pulled Galvayra out and stared at it. Naga saw the pained look on Lina's face and wondered what was going on."

"Um Lina?" Naga began. "What does that bow have to do with anything?"

"This bow hasn't done anything, but it is responsible for the death of the Aincent Dragons. Those Golden Dragons I asked Gaav about wiped out the Aincent Dragons because they had Galvayra and were afraid that the Aincent Dragons would turn against the other dragons."

Gaav pointed at Lina. "You are caught in a vice. Right now, you only have to deal with Mazoku. But once the barrier comes down or penetrated, that clan of Ryuzoku will be on you as well."

Naga in a shaky voice asked, "Gaav, why do you want to take over Seyruun?"

Gaav shook his head. "The same reason I intened to help Lina. Survival. I'm trying to amass enough power to keep the other Darklords from killing me."

Lina waved that away with a bowed head. "I'll explain the details about that later Naga. I'm trying to think of a way to avoid the clash with the Golden Dragons."

"No offense, Lina," Gourry said. "But, I don't think you can. Other than Fillia, they don't seem to care about anything but protecting the peace."

Lina clenched her fists as she stared at the table. "I need more information than what I have. I don't have weeks or months anymore. It's going to have to be the original Claire Bible."

Gaav said, "Since Xellos was with you in that other time, I take it he was the one who got you through to see the Clare Bible."

Lina just nodded.

"Xellos?" Naga asked.

Gaav answered, "General-Preist of Beastmaster Zelas Metallium. He's the strongest Mazoku who isn't a Lord. During the Dark Resurection War, he wiped out a clan's worth of dragons singlehandly."

Naga sat back in her seat and thought hard.

'Information. Sirius said that Darkstar would be easier to deal with if Valgaav was nutrealized somehow,' Lina thought furiously. 'Given enough time, Gaav might actually become a good person thanks to being bonded to a human. Thanks to being thrown back in time, the Dark Lords think the Talsimans have been stolen. I've got no choice.'

Lina swallowed heavily. "Gaav, this situation has left me with no choice. I'm going to accept your offer of help."

"Lina, are you sure?" Gourry asked.

Lina held her arms out and shrugged. "What choice do we have, Gourry? The vessels in Alto probably don't have enough energy to charge the spell. We need someone who can channel enough demonic energy into the five weapons."

Gourry sighed and nodded. He got a puzzled expeesion on his face as he addressed Gaav.

"I've been wondering. If you can channel Shabranigdo's power, why don't you use spells like the Dragon Slave?"

Gaav replied with a chuckle. "No Mazoku can cast a spell that calls upon a higher power than themselves. If Hellmaster tried to cast the Dragon Slave, he'd be dead before the incantation was complete. As to the power channeled for that spell to kill Darkstar, that's it. It is just raw power without form."

"Gaav?" Naga said tenativley, and then proceeded in a rush. "I'll admit, I'm trying to protect my father. But, why don't you go into the merchant caravan business? It would get you power and allow you to hide from Hellmaster and the other Lords. When Mom was still alive, one of the larger caravn owners had enough guards on his various wagon trains to equal any two nation's armies. If you pay your workers well, you have a group that is as loyal to you as most royal armies. A nation is limited by its borders. A caravan train is limited only to where it can do business. Since merchants are common people, they will hear things before a king does. You wouldn't have to depose anyone and tip your hand. Just run a good business."

Gaav scratched his chin. "Hmmm. Intruiging. It does seem like a better option than Seyruun does and would be harder for the other Lords to stymie. I guess I can leave Seyruun alone, as the price of that idea."

Naga mentally breathed a sigh of relief.

'I wonder if I'm any better than Alfred or Randy,' Lina thought. 'I making a deal with a Mazoku. The only comfort I take in this is that I'm doing this to save all four worlds.'

Lina looked up. "Now that that is settled, we have to make plans."

"I agree," Gaav said.
