Seeing the Uchiha fan on the door before her and the Uzumaki swirl on the one across the hall, Sachiko had little chance of error as she opened the door to her room. Looking inside, she found a room which wasn’t that much different from the one she had in the Uchiha district, barring the orientation of the furniture to the differently shaped room.
A simple bed in one corner; the dark blue comforter on top tucked into the tidily made bed. There was a small desk and chair on the other side of the room, with Academy books and scrolls set into some shelves. Back near the bed was a small night stand with a lamp and a picture frame, containing a picture of Sachiko’s mother and father in full Uchiha regalia.
“So, this is your room.” Sakura mused out loud as she took a few tentative steps through the door. It wasn’t overly large, but it wasn’t small either; sort of the same size as her room at her house. She did think it was a bit undecorated though, but that could just be the girl’s style.
“Un.” Sachiko muttered in the affirmative, looking at the wooden floorboards.
Seeing the Uchiha girl focusing on the floor, Sakura asked, “What are you looking for?”
The raven haired kunoichi didn’t respond, kneeling beside the bed to look underneath. After a few moments, she reached under and rapped on the floor in a few different places before stating, “Got it.”
“Got what?” Sakura asked as she sat down in the chair by the desk, interested in what her crush was doing.
Sachiko did something out of sight under the bed, but soon stood up with a black book in her hands, the Uchiha crest on the cover. Opening it up, the girl sat on the edge of her bed and began flicking her eyes back and forth over the pages, flipping through them quickly before she settled down in a specific section.
“I’m reviewing my journal to see what happened to me as a girl.” She explained, slightly distracted due to trying to absorb the information contained within.
“You really have a diary?” Sakura asked, surprised that Naruko was correct earlier when she was making fun of Sachiko.
Looking over the book with serious eyes, Sachiko emphatically stressed, “Journal.”
“Ah, right. It’s a journal, not a diary.” Sakura corrected herself while holding up a hand to hide her small smile. After she had mastered her lips to a more neutral look, she asked, “Have you found anything?”
Sachiko nodded, still reading the logs of her life. “When my clan was murdered by ‘that man’, apparently he waited until my mother and I were visiting Naruko and her mother. Seems like our mothers were… are really good friends because we moved in soon after it happened.”
“That was nice of them.” Sakura commented, trying to put herself in Sachiko’s mother’s position. Shuddering to herself, she empathized with the desire to leave the location of such a tragic event.
As Sachiko sorted through the pages, she noticed a trend past that point where a majority of the logs in the journal mentioned Naruko in some manner. Some were positive, talking about doing fun things together or training, while some were negative, reading about how annoying Naruko was or a fight they were having at the time. Sakura’s name popped up quite a few times as well; Hinata and Ino as well, but not as much.
Due to the fact that she was just skimming through it, Sachiko was nearing the end of the journal entries. Sakura must have noticed this or just gotten tired of the silence because she asked, “Is there any current information we should know? Maybe like who our Jounin-sensei is?”
It would have been disastrous to expect Kakashi to be their sensei when someone else was filling that spot in this changed world.
“Give me a moment.” Sachiko stated, flipping the page to read the logs for the Academy graduation week. When she got to them, she quirked her brow at what she read.
