Mischief Fragment - Naruko: A Wild Horse appears! [Episode 263488]

by Konsaki

“So, who’s our Jounin-sensei?” Sakura asked directly, growing tired of the bickering between the two other girls. Really, there were more important things at hand!

Quirking her brow, Sachiko tapped a specific section of her book. “Someone named Saotome Ranma.”

“Saotome Ranma?” Naruko parroted as if to dredge up any memories to match the name. Shaking her head a moment later, she commented, “Never heard of him before.” Scratching her blonde hair, she wondered, “Or is it a her?”

Sachiko just nodded, understanding the confusion at the odd name, which was slightly unisex. “It’s a ‘her’.” Quirking her brow once more, she informed her teammates with an intrigued tone, “Actually, it seems like we haven’t actually met her yet.”

“Really?” Sakura asked in surprise, getting a confirming nod from the black haired girl. “Why not?”

“It doesn’t really say.” Sachiko confessed, frowning at the book held in her hands.

“Well, that sucks…” Naruko complained, leaning forward to put her chin into a hand with the supporting elbow on her knee. “If it was me, I’d have bugged Iruka-sensei for the answer.” She mentioned offhand with a nod.

Sachiko seemed to ponder that statement for a moment before pushing off her bed, gaining the gazes of both other girls. Opening the door to her room, she stepped across the hall and entered what was presumably Naruko’s bedroom.

“Hey! What are you doing?” The blonde demanded of her ‘sisterly’ rival, jumping up from the Uchiha’s bed as well. Getting no response from the Uchiha girl now out of sight in the opposite room, Naruko stepped out into the hallway with a scowl. “Hey, get out of there!” She ordered loudly at Sachiko.

“Fine. I’m already done.” Sachiko’s even voice calmly stated in response as she reappeared in the doorway; now grasping an orange covered book in her hand. Holding it up for the blonde girl to see, she smirked. “Look at what I found.”

Scrunching up her eyebrows in confusion, she glanced at the book before her eyes shot wide. Written boldly on the cover, in her own messy handwriting, was ‘Naruko Only!’ while ‘That means you Sachiko!’ was added in smaller text underneath.

“Seems that someone else has a diary, too.” Sachiko taunted, tasting the sweet, sweet turnabout and relishing in it.

Growling, Naruko shook a fist. “Hey, give it here!”

“If you two are going to fight, take it out back to the training circle.” A stern voice interjected, causing both girls to look to the stairs at the end of the hall. There, Kushina strode forward with a plate of sliced apples in her hands and a disapproving look on her face. Turning her gaze directly to the Uchiha daughter, she directed, “Sachiko, give it back to her. Kami knows I’ve heard enough of your yelling when Naruko takes your diary.”

“Journal.” The dark eyed girl muttered under her breath as she handed the book to Naruko, causing Kushina to roll her eyes.

“And you,” Kushina directed to her stern gaze on own daughter. “Don’t yell in the house. Do you understand me, young lady?”

“Yes.” Naruko cringed slightly, feeling the same way as if Iruka-sensei or Hokage-jiji was chastising her… only worse.

“Yes what?” Kushina echoed, narrowing her eyes slightly.

“Yes, Ma’am!” Her daughter shot out, standing a little more at attention under her mother’s slight glare.

“That’s what I thought.” The redheaded Uzumaki woman stated with a nod before visibly relaxing. “Now, other than getting on each other’s nerves, again, what are you three up to?”

“Um, we were just talking about our new Jounin-sensei, someone named Saotome Ranma.” Sakura offered up, having stepped into the doorway to Sachiko’s bedroom with the commotion.

“Yeah, we know like nothing about her.” Naruko added, inordinately pleased to be out from under her mother’s chastising gaze.

“Well, sorry girls, I don’t know her personally.” Kushina confessed with an apologetic shrug of her shoulders as she moved and placed the plate down on Sachiko’s nightstand.

“So you can’t tell us anything about her?” Naruko complained in disappointment.

Tapping a finger to her chin, Kushina thought about it for a second. “All I can tell you is she’s a respected Jounin who takes quite a few long range missions; which is why you haven’t met her yet, I assume.” Nodding to herself on that fact, she looked over the three pre-teen kunoichi with a warm smile, “I do know she’ll be good for you girls but, if she’s like anything I’ve heard about, she’s going to keep you on your toes.”

“Thank you, Uzumaki-san.” Sakura thanked Naruko’s mother with a smile.

Kushina just frowned at that. “I know I technically out rank you now, being a Jounin and all, but it’s still Kushina. Alright?”

“Ah, thank you, Kushina-san.” Sakura repeated with a small blush, this time with the preferred name.

Smiling, Kushina nodded before turning to walk back down the stairs. “Alright, kiddos. Have fun and stay out of trouble. You’ll be getting more than you want of it soon enough.”

The light giggling the older female let out didn’t fill the three fresh Genin with confidence at all.
