Ayaka was similar to Ayaka Kagari from "Witchcraft Works" and her apparent lack of emotion, deemed "cool" from other girls in her age group, easily was fit into the witnessing of the massacre. Of the three, her affinity to fire was the strongest - such that it was difficult for her NOT to have fire involved whenever she pulled off a technique.
Which led to her pulling off fire clones at an early age.
Rei was similar to Rei Hino. And now there was a branch of the Uchiha clan named Hino who tended the shrine in the Uchiha district and had strong spiritual gifts. Rei was one of those who'd been aware of the planned coup, and of her father's support of it. So she blamed her father for the mess and was one of the very few who knew WHY Itachi had gone berserk. She kept it secret because even at that age she'd realized how dangerous it was to go blabbing what was likely a VERY high level secret. So she was biding her time on that revelation but might well confide in the other two if the information would help them survive. The problem being that all three were moved off elsewhere within a week of the massacre.
Hikaru was, despite the massacre, bright and chipper and optimistic. She was very much like Hikaru Shidou from Rayearth. A hard worker who studied kenjutsu and taijutsu and had a mastery of a couple of fire techniques right off the bat. She'd been friends with the Inuzuka Clan prior to the massacre - leading to her virtual adoption after that. She even had a dog that had taken an extreme liking to her and vice versa.
