"He is not the Demon Fox!" declared Iruka. "He is my precious student, Naruto Uzumaki!"
Some things were different.
"Are you sure about this?" asked Mito Uzumaki of the Hokage.
"Yes, it seems as if they have the situation well in hand," said Hiruzen Sarutobi.
"This was not a correct Edo Tensei," said Mito a moment later, her attention shifting from the crystal ball to her upraised hand. "That only gives the semblance of life. I am truly alive and young again."
"How did he manage it?" asked the Hokage. "As I understand the technique, it requires a living sacrifice to be used as the core of the jutsu."
Mito was silent for a few moments, apparently fascinated by her hand. When she spoke, her tone indicated her own curiosity. "It should not have worked. The jutsu should have collapsed."
"It does seem to have worked nonetheless," observed the Hokage. "The Second Hokage's jutsu, but not the same results."
"No. I'm alive, young, and in full control of my abilities," said Mito.
"So what do you want to do now?" asked the Hokage.
"Team Seven under Kakashi Hatake. Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Tobio."
"Team Eight under Kurenai Yuhi. Hinata Hyuga, Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame."
"Team Nine under Mito Uzumaki. Naruto Uzumaki, Momiji, Hayate."
"Did I put them in? Huh. Must have, because I would have noticed them before. Can't figure out who they replaced though so it's probably just as well." The cat considered the timestream briefly before deciding it didn't matter.
"Mito Uzumaki," said Hayate as they waited outside the Academy. "Isn't she older than the Hokage?"
"You know of her?" asked Momiji.
"Uhm, S-Class Secret," said Naruto.
"Eh?" asked Hayate. "You know something, Naruto?"
"S-Class Secret per the Hokage two nights ago," said Naruto.
"Our sensei is an S-Class Secret?" asked Momiji skeptically.
A fuuinjutsu circle appeared full of black text. The letters swirled up in a small whirlwind and someone faded in as the letters faded away.
"Team Nine. I am Mito Uzumaki. There is a small test for you to take prior to my taking you on as genin."
