"Orochimaru not only started with high percentages of genetic alteration and ignored the spiritual component. He also only used large dangerous animals for his experiments." Madeline Madison indicated the failed experiment photos taken from Orochimaru's labs again.
"Still, turning her into a catgirl seems-" Kakashi's voice trailed off.
"Cliche? Trite? Overdone? How many catgirls have you actually seen in Konohagakure or the Elemental Countries?" asked Madeline.
"Well," said Kakashi.
"Other than on display at various comic and hobby shops in merchandise form?" added Madeline.
"Admittedly, none, but-" Kakashi admitted.
"Oh all right, we're short of funds," said Madeline. "Think of it though, Kakashi Hatake! A REAL catgirl kunoichi! Think of the benefits! The increased speed and agility! The ability to locate with precision the origins of sounds! The merchandising!"
Kakashi was still for a moment. "She's getting a cut of profits?"
"Of course," said Madeline, somewhat offended. "We're not Kiri or Kumo after all! If only we had a team of catgirls. Konohagakure could see an influx of funds that would have us financial juggernauts!"
"This is weird and kind of creepy," said Naruto to Sasuke.
"Examination while she is unconscious reveals much higher low-level light vision," said Madeline, rubbing her hands together. "Fast twitch muscle strength increased, overall fitness, and a selection of nice outfits for photo shoots so we can properly market her - both now and when she's a bit older."
"She's twelve," pointed out Kakashi.
"Precisely!" said Madeline. "Imagine her on the cover of boxes of 'Frosted Ninja Stars' cereal! Endorsements! Figurines! Wall scrolls!"
"Ung, nyaow, urrrr," managed Sakura. Slowly she creaked her eyes open.
"Well, you're awake."
Sakura's eyes slowly tracked over to where Sasuke was standing near the door.
"NYAAAAAAAAAAA!" (ka-glomp)
"Sakura," said a voice nearby. "You do realize you're wearing a hospital gown? Nice jump by the way."
"Nya? YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" yelled Sakura, leaping away from Sasuke and clinging to a wall. "Nyat?"
THUD!
"Well, as soon as you're used to things, come see us," said Kakashi. "We'll be meeting at Training Ground 7 every morning at 0800."
"Myah?" asked Sakura. "Nyait. Nyi nyis miai myordss... TAIL?!"
"This may take awhile," said Sasuke, unrumpling his clothes and heading out the door just in case.
"I expect the speech impediment will fade after she gets used to the slightly different nasal passages, tongue, and nerve connections," offered the mad scientist in the doorway.
