Mischief Fragment - Wishcraft: Not so much Dead as Alive [Episode 264499]

by Kestral

Time and space had been rewound, spliced, played.

He could have stuck in Rei and Asuka from an Evangelion timeline. Give Asuka some Fire Release, have Rei be an Ice Release bloodline, and watch the timeline shift slightly at the inclusion of those elements.

Toltiir had considered a number of possibilities for insertion, just trying to tweak things along a bit. Rei and Asuka from Evangelion, Ageha and Ikaruga from one of the Senran Kagura timelines, Kei and Yuri from a Dirty Pair timeline were quickly crossed off after brief consideration, likewise Louise and Kirche from a Zero timeline.

Finally he just went ahead and went with ninja going into a ninja setting and settled on two individuals from a Dead Or Alive timeline.

Now they were Kasumi and Ayane Uchiha - Fugaku Uchiha's little sister who went off and had her own adventures until she had one legit daughter and one resulting from a series of unfortunate events. Since Kiri was a perfectly viable enemy to do such a thing, he made Raidou a Kiri-nin who'd been aiming to get a daughter with the Sharingan off of Ayame Uchiha.

Due to the wording of the agreement, Ayame Uchiha's daughter would be engaged to the son of Kushina Uzumaki. Due to the language involved - it didn't specify either daughter.

So the two half-sisters had been friends for years, then enemies/rivals in some sort of ninja tradition.

Of course, written in the language it was - it also didn't specify that there had to be one daughter. So there was a third option, even if nobody except Jiraiya would actually see that as a viable solution.

Kasumi was over there, watching.

Ayane decided to ignore her. Naruto was there. Naruto who hadn't held her 'cursed child' background against her. Naruto who had been an idiot, and loud, but had declared her a friend once long ago.

Unlike stupid Kasumi - Naruto had never taken that declaration back.

Oh, and there was Hinata over there behind that light pole. Honestly, didn't she know that ninja were supposed to be experts at hiding? Might have to approach the girl and give her a few pointers just out of pride in being a kunoichi of the Leaf.

Naruto was training again. His shuriken and kunai skills were abyssal. His taijutsu was below par. Stamina and general fitness though - above average.

He needed help. Even after the Uchiha Massacre - many looked on her with disgust. The sin that happened to her mother tainting the result of that sin.

Ayane paused. Was that why Hinata was hiding over there? Did she have a tragic past and offer of friendship from Naruto?

Ayane was over there, bristling and angry as always.

Hinata was over there - and was she a kunoichi-in-training or clan heir at all? Hiding behind a phone pole and peeking around the edge? She obviously needed some advice in the proper manner of a kunoichi gathering information.

That WAS the main role of a kunoichi after all. Gathering intelligence was the very essence of a kunoichi's duties. Yes, one had to fight and sometimes use very flashy manuevers - but it was information that could win or lose battles before the first blow was struck.

Therefore she was just practicing those skills while watching her fiance miss the target with his shuriken practice. That was... rather pathetic actually. He missed the target he was aiming at and hit a squirrel in a tree not even close to the target. The squirrel chittered rather angrily at this and apparently decided to steal the shuriken in response.

Well, it appeared that she would have to introduce herself as soon as possible to improve those skills.

"Fine, fine," said Sasuke Uchiha.

Ker-thunk!

"MORE forms?" asked Sasuke.

"Well, you ARE the head of the clan now," said the chunin.

Nine-year-old Sasuke sighed. When he looked at the paper on top though, he raised an eyebrow.

His crazy sister with the pink hair, who had declared repeatedly her desire to marry him, had been one of three potential brides of the dead last of his Academy class. Who apparently had two potentially useful bloodlines. The others were cousins Ayane and Kasumi.

Here before him was basically a confirmation of that contract. Signing it was no problem. What was ON it however, was something that caused him to give forth an evil laugh - which he quickly stifled.

"It's okay, Uchiha-san," said the chunin. "It's normal for clan heads to do that every so often. Keeps the members of those clans on their toes and avoid bothering them for petty reasons."

Sasuke considered that, then nodded. Made sense to him.

"You'll grow into I suppose," said the chunin, one of the mostly-faceless ones that ended up in a sort of ninja clerical pool. "Otherwise I'd suggest lowering the pitch a bit."

"Your name?" asked Sasuke, thinking this one seemed fairly competent even if she DID have the tendency to fade into the background when you glanced away. Though, come to think of it, she WAS one of the Hokage's staff and therefore a ninja office clerk so that was probably to be expected.

"Kanae," said the chunin, apparently surprised.

"I'm new to this, I appreciate the advice," admitted Sasuke. Now he could turn his attention to the option he'd choose. All it would take is one checkmark to set things up. And someone ELSE would have to deal with girls being annoying to him.
