"Hang on a minute. I'm working out the other two Uchiha survivors."
"I thought you'd already done that," said Sasuke.
"If you visualize a timeline as a stream of water, putting in a diversion or shift in the path of the water can cause it to go flood a field or down a drain. There are unexpected eddies and twists which can cause the water to flood a gopher hole or undercut an embankment."
"Huh?" asked Naruto.
"It's complicated."
"Well, I... MY HAIR TURNED PINK!"
"Your eyes are green again too," noted Naruto happily.
Sasuke shuddered as the thought of little pink-haired Uchiha boys once again became a possibility.
"Okay. That's back and running. That was definitely strange. Somehow that had caused Orochimaru to take an interest in Sakura Uchiha and get a tissue sample and try to clone her for research purposes. Left it to a less than brilliant minion to monitor the process and forgot about it until he revisited that lab and discovered that there were nearly a thousand pink-haired Sakura clones. The really weird part was how closely it resembled one of those Rei tanks in an Eva timeline."
Sasuke thought about having a thousand copies of his sister trying to marry him and felt a moment of immense relief that he had been spared that fate.
"Now back to one with the original coloration since that seems to matter to Naruto for some reason. And we have two other Uchiha of a branch family that were engaged to Naruto at the same time."
"Who are they?" asked Sasuke, trying to remember but apparently those memories hadn't quite caught up.
"Can we get back to my wish?" asked Naruto.
"Fine. You've got one now?"
"Sakura likes Sasuke because he's 'cool' - even if I don't think so, right?" asked Naruto.
"Yeah, Sasuke is so cool. And you aren't," agreed Sakura.
"So - I wish I was cool!" said Naruto.
"Fine. Ice Release kekkei genkai coming right up."
"I don't think that's what he meant," pointed out Sasuke.
"God of mischief."
"Point," agreed Sasuke. Thinking about it, he added something. "Too bad you can't engage him to a few others." Meaning that he wanted more Uchiha surviving and if this did it - he'd have engaged more himself.
"So, let's see how this turns out."
"I thought all the Uchiha were dead."
Sasuke stirred at the words being spoken outside the hospital room. Everyone wasn't dead?
"All three of the girls engaged to that Uzumaki boy were spared. Apparently they were considered Uzumaki due to that and therefore beneath notice."
Sasuke frowned. Engaged. To that Uzumaki boy? Well, if that was what kept them safe then the engagement was DEFINITELY standing. Wait? Did that mean Sakura, his crazy half-sister, had somehow survived?
"Ung," answered a groan from a nearby bed.
Sasuke's eyes widened. Why was her hair PINK?!
"So, three girls engaged to Naruto Uzumaki," said Jiraiya. "They're how old?"
"Ten," answered Hiruzen Sarutobi, wearing the hat that indicated he was fully in his role as Third Hokage.
"Ten years old and three fiancees?" asked Jiraiya. "Do they know about this?"
"The three girls - yes," said the Hokage. "Naruto - not a clue."
"I'm going to have to do a set of stories about them hitting the age when this all hits the fan - sixteen or so," mused Jiraiya. "The possibilities for conflict, resolution, and teamwork."
"I'll bet," said the Hokage. "On the other hand, I need you to keep an eye out for someone with the Ice Release bloodline."
"Why?" asked Jiraiya.
"Naruto fell off the top of the Hokage Monument," said the Hokage.
"Someone caught him?" asked Jiraiya, reasoning that if Naruto had died that would have been the sole topic of conversation.
"He formed chains similar to Kushina's technique to stop himself," said the Hokage. "Except these were formed of ice."
Jiraiya blinked. "Ice? But... oh."
"Indeed," said the Hokage. "Hasn't been able to do it since then. But very promising indeed."
