Jetta was smiling encouragingly at her and waited for the other two to eat first.
Ranma smelled the food and almost bent forward to eat, but paused, remembering past experiences with food people were very eager for him to eat.
Sheila smelled it, inhaling deeply and then...tried to eat.
"Uh, do you have a fork?" she asked after a minute of trying to get the chopsticks to work while Makoto and Ranma watched in amusement and Jetta was deciding not to even try.
"Oh, sure," Makoto said, moving to the kitchen.
"So how is it, Ranma?" Sheila asked. "Since I can't get any..." Ranma paused for a moment, and then swallowed, setting himself to the dangers of trying the food of a just-met cook.
Makoto was just coming in as Ranma swallowed the bite. Three people more aware of what was at stake held their breath a moment.
"Hey! This is good!" Ranma said before digging into his food with his usual gusto.
"Really?" Makoto asked in a hopeful tone of voice.
"Yeah," Ranma said between bites. "You should be a cook and start a restaurant or something."
Sheila noted the starry sparkles grow in Makoto's eyes and smiled.
"How about you Sheila," Makoto asked quickly. "What do you think?"
"Umm, could I have that fork please?" Sheila repeated.
"Oh yeah!" Makoto said. "Here you go."
She handed the fork to Sheila and watched with thick anticipation as the fork dipped in seeming abyssmal sloth down to the food and back up towards Sheila's dainty and expressive mouth. Makoto watched the food enter Sheila's mouth, saw her chew for a bit and then swallow. The jagwere blinked and her eyes lit up, then softened in amusement and pleasure.
"Mmmm," Sheila said. "Ranma's right." Then she set herself to eating.
"Wai!" Makoto said. "Thank you so much!"
"What else should we say?" Sheila asked.
"Yeah," Ranma said. "If you open a restaurant tell us about it."
"I will! I will!" Makoto said. "And you can come any time you want..."
"Great," Sheila said. "I could certainly stand to eat like this everyday of my life." She winked meaningfully at Makoto who blinked and looked in confusion back at Sheila for a moment.
"Y..you could?" Makoto asked. Jetta had an "I told you so" expression on her face.
"Definitely," Sheila said. "Don't you think so, Ranma? Waking up every morning to cooking like this?"
"Yeah!" Ranma said. "She's a great cook!"
"You know," Sheila said. "I notice you only got two futons here."
"Huh?" Makoto asked, looking toward the futons. She could have sworn that she'd set out enough. "I thought I..."
"Mind if Ranma and I share with you?" Sheila asked. Ranma almost choked on his food at that suggestion. Makoto, meanwhile, looked about to burst into flame from the heat of her embarrassment. "It's not like we haven't done it before, after all."
"You don't mind if we uh...." Ranma looked really nervous about even speaking this.
"Why not?" Sheila asked. "She's cute."
It was at this point that Jetta noticed something important.
"Hey!" she cried out. "Where's my food!?"
"Huh? I know I served you," Makoto said, confused as she looked down. "Hey! My food's gone too!"
Sheila and Ranma both blinked in identically innocent manners, and then swallowed.
"What are you looking at us for?" they asked.
