Had many people gone as animals or clowns or the like, it might have worked out better.
Her spell had been gathering power for over a week when it erupted and suddenly:
Usagi's wings worked. She was a magical princess. Her little glitter wand worked and she managed to hit Nehelenia with a Polymorph Other. It only lasted a few minutes, but Nehelenia the Frog had gotten rather severely beaten by that time.
She rallied, however, changed back, and tried to raise her powers and crush the Faerie Princess.
Mamoru found out that his plastic sword had become real and ran her through.
Ranma put three shots from his Walther PPK through Nehelenia's head at the same time.
At which point Doctor Ami Kitty and Nurse Hotaru-neko started going around treating patients.
There was some panic from some people.
Morrigan Aenslad was one. She'd noticed the girls in the harem outfits, taken it as a challenge, and dressed herself as a harem girl - indicating that she was part of "that group."

Haruka the Haremgirl found herself staring lustfully at her Master Ranma and grew quite agitated when she realized what she was doing. Fortunately Nurse Hotaru was present to give her a sedative.
Michiru the Dancing Girl was soon just as sedated as Haruka, and for the same reason.
Minako, Ranma's pet catgirl, aka Cutey Kitty, got herself dizzy by leaping in midair and transforming by saying "Kitty Flash" into different outfits.
Makoto wanted Nehelenia to get up so she could throw a few "Kikoken" and similar attacks at the villain. She was having a ball.
Rei grumbled and ate a carrot, her ears hanging in such a way to show how depressed she was about all this.
Setsuna fingered the collar of her Ifurita outfit, the collar that proclaimed her owner to be Ranma, and wondered why she was feeling so happy about all this.
Soun, who'd come as a really ugly French maid, and Genma, who'd come as a panda, were worse off. After all, Soun was now physically and mentally his deceased wife Kimiko (it had been Kimiko's outfit, and while she was sort of resurrected, it wasn't how Soun would have preferred it), whereas Genma was a real panda.
It took the Senshi about an hour to discover:
