The Jusenkyo Guide ran for cover when the air split into an open tube at Jusenkyo.
It saved him. He had to hide when the Musk came, so he had developed a pretty good hiding space. He watched as armored forms moved through the late evening air. He had no military experience, but recognized the function of some of the things easily enough.
A tank was a tank, whether it had six legs or treads as its means of locomotion.
The sorcerers were quite obviously sorcerers. The technicians were just as obviously techs.
The Jusenkyo Guide cringed as a new sound filled the valley. He'd never heard it before but he instantly knew it. Jusenkyo was screaming.
Kiima stood with her guards as they prepared to deal with the intruders. Someone dared intrude on the sacred airspace of Mount Phoenix? They would rue the day they had done so!
The guards of Mount Phoenix began boiling out to deal with the specks currently circling Jusenkyo.
Plasma fire began raining down on Mount Phoenix. The rock turned red on the first blast, white on the second, and by the third was boiling away.
Into the gap swarmed hundreds of large globes which released a light blue vapor.
At the same time, reconnaisance patrols responding to the attack located two other potential hazard sites.
The area needed to be secured.
Armored tanks proved more powerful than the Shiryu Shoten Ha or Breaking Point. Poisonous gas left most of the population of the Amazon Village alive but disabled. Sonic and psychic attacks mopped up the rest. Robots were used to collect the new merchandise.
The same scene was repeated at the citadel of the Musk Dynasty and at Phoenix Mountain.
As one of the overseers said to another, the raw materials of this world showed promise.
With the area secured, buildings had been erected. Labs were researching Jusenkyo and Jusendo. The Amazon Village, Herbal Village, and Musk Citadel were being investigated thoroughly and anything of interest taken for study.
The main labs determined that Jusenkyo and Jusendo did indeed show promise as is.
The large human hidden in a crawlspace underneath his hut was located, but had the respect of several of the lesser ranks for having managed to conceal himself so well and for so long. With the general upbeat mood about their findings, the consensus was to let the human remain there unless he proved a threat.
Quisling checked his desk to find the report. On reading the report, he smiled in imitation of the human gesture. How excellent.
As senior executive on this plane, information was being requested of him. They wanted a test area for their initial findings, somewhere to get experimental subjects from.
The local area was off limits. He'd already talked to the two agents about broadening their field and going elsewhere. Too much activity in a single area, and even these primitives might suspect something was up.
No, the best target area would be someplace where the test subjects could be removed, and they'd never be missed or cause a ripple in the broadcast media.
Picking up a phone, Quisling called his agents. "Agent G? Quisling. Good. I have a mission for you. Quite lucrative. It even involves a bit of travel. Get down here as soon as you both can get free without alerting anyone. Where? Ah, you're going to:"
