To say a Rad-Scorpion was a giant scorpion was not quite accurate. It would be like saying a dinosaur was a just a really big lizard.
It erupted from the ground in front of Vash and Lina. Four times the size of both of them put together, dark yellow and brown in color, it raised up on four massive legs, and its four claws snapping furiously. Its jaws - real jaws, not the mandible fangs its mundane cousins sport - gnashed in anticipation of a meal. Its huge tail waved over its body, its tip not a poisonous stinger, but a spiked mace.
That tail didn't strike with a poisonous sting. Rather, it bashed its victims into broken piles.
"Fireball!" Lina 'cast,' using her ability to command the elements to create a blast of fire. A basketball size blast of flame streaked from her hands and impacted against the Rad-Scorpion, spreading across its surface.
The Rad-Scorpion screamed, and burned. Unfortunately... it didn't die.
The mace tail struck the ground before Lina, and Vash took that as a sign to move. Grabbing Lina, he dashed off, thankful that the Rad-Scorpion's eyes didn't work very well at night. The could... possibly out run it... if they got lucky.
Glacing back, and seeing one pissed of Rad-Scorpion charging after them... he hoped they got real lucky.
